Fairly useful winning hurdler/chaser for Henry de Bromhead. Opened account for present yard when scoring in decisive fashion at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) last month and while a 10 lb rise demands more, he has to enter calculations all the same.

Made it 3-5 for current yard when bagging a 6-runner handicap hurdle on return at Chepstow (2m, good to firm) in October. Weakened out of things rather tamely at Ascot next time, though, and it's hard to be confident about his prospects here on the back of that display.

Capitalised on a falling mark when taking 6-runner handicap chase at Kelso in September. However, he's generally more miss than hit nowadays and failed to threaten on first run in this sphere since 2020 at Wetherby last month.

Winner of Wetherby handicap for Dan Skelton last November. Safely held all 5 subsequent starts for that yard, but back on track when third on second run for Christian Williams at Windsor (2m, good to soft) and he's a strong candidate here off an appealing mark.

Won in this sphere and on the Flat upon joining this yard during the spring and got his head back in front with an easy all-the-way Sedgefield novice (16.8f, soft) success last month. More on his plate now handicapping for the first time over hurdles, but couldn't rule out further progress.

Firmly on the upgrade since sent handicapping and he got off the mark in excellent style at Warwick (19f, heavy) in February. Hiked up 8 lb and absent since, but this 6-y-o probably has more to offer and is a big player for his in-form yard.

Did the job in decisive fashion on the Flat at Nottingham in October, but failed to fire back in this sphere at Haydock 3 weeks ago and you have to go back to 2022 for his latest hurdles success.

Irish bumper winner who bagged maiden/novice hurdles at Warwick and Cartmel in May. Yet to be asked for her effort when coming down at the third-last on recent handicap bow at Ludlow (15.8f, good to soft) and could have a say back on a left-handed track (jumped left throughout at Ludlow).

No show in 4 runs for this yard last year and while he got his head back in front returned to France in a handicap hurdle for Hugo Merienne last December, he looks vulnerable back on these shores having rejoined Sophie Leech.

Forecasts

Lanesborough (5/4), Bowmore (5/1), Washington (6/1), Williethebuilder (13/2), Amancio (8/1), Cormier (12/1), Malystic (18/1), Belle Le Grand (25/1), Vernon Subutex (50/1)

Verdict

It was a definite step back in the right direction for WILLIETHEBUILDER at Windsor where he stayed on nicely into third, leaving the impression that his turn may be near and that the return to a more galloping track such as this would be in his favour. Bowmore has to be feared, for all that the handicapper has hit him hard for his Newbury success, and Lanesborough will also be a threat if able to pick up where he left off last season following a nine-month absence.
