Territories colt who shaped better than he had on debut 10 weeks previously when fourth of 5 in maiden at this C&D (10/1) 26 days ago, running green but making late headway. Hood on 1st time but he could be the type to do well in handicaps on the back of this.

Son of Mehmas who did better with debut under his belt when second of 6 in novice at Ripon (5f) in June. Absent/gelded subsequently and likely he can do better again. Big shout with cheekpieces on 1st time.

52,000 gns 2-y-o, Blue Point gelding. Easy to back, seemingly lacked something in sharpness when eighth of 9 in novice at Southwell (5f) on debut 9 days ago, outpaced and always behind. This promises to reveal more.

Foaled April 20. 5,000 gns foal, Mayson colt. Half-brother to winner up to 7f Ibn Aldar. Market can likely prove a useful guide with yard also saddling Fortification.

Pearl Secret gelding. Dam, 9f/1¼m winner, sister to smart winner up to 1½m Furzig. Offered little when last of 6 in novice (50/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) on debut 33 days ago. Probably one for handicaps over further in due course.

Havana Grey filly who shaped promisingly when a debut third of 8 in novice at Brighton (6f) in October. Failed to improve when sixth of 9 in novice at Southwell (5f, 5/1) 9 days ago. Could be an interesting type for handicaps after this.

Fairly useful filly. 33/1, not disgraced when 6 lengths tenth of 19 to Spicy Marg in listed race at Newmarket (6f, good) 29 days ago. This rates comfortably her easiest assignment for some time and she's fancied to play a lead role.

Forecasts

Fortification (4/6), Palmeira (6/4), Havana Jag (11/1), Lieutenant Sir (25/1), Hardstyle (28/1), Exhibition Match (33/1), Al Najashi (80/1), Power Cut (150/1)

Verdict

A £350,000 breeze-up purchase, FORTIFICATION did better with his debut under his belt when runner-up at Ripon back in June and, appealing as the type to progress further back from a break (also gelded) he looks to hold sound claims on tapeta debut. Palmeira has had plenty of racing but this is her easiest assignment for a while and she can feature. Exhibition Match and Lieutenant Sir are a couple of newcomers to note.
