Maiden hurdler who has taken very well to chasing, building on his promising reappearance second at Chepstow when landing 9-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon (16.5f) 3 weeks ago, notably jumping/travelling well. Big shout up 6 lb with prospect of more to come.
Yet to score over fences but he proved largely consistent upon joining present stable earlier this year, fourth of 5 in handicap chase at Ascot (16.8f) back in March. Eased further in the weights ahead of return and this drop in class rates a plus. Had wind surgery.
Made a winning reappearance in 2m Market Rasen handicap hurdle in July and good efforts in that sphere either side of a below-par display over fences at Stratford (17f) in September, his jumping not fluent from early final circuit. Not out of things but he will need to jump better here.

Has looked an improved model since returning to action in September, winning 2½m Perth handicap hurdle before following up on debut in this sphere at Chepstow (2m) in October. Disappointed when well held fourth at Wetherby (19.4f) since but certainly not one to be writing off.
Point winner who shaped with promise when making the frame in a pair of Warwick bumpers this spring. However, hasn't looked straightforward sent hurdling this season (has flashed tail) and has a bit to prove now handicapping over larger obstacles.
Finally got off the mark at Wetherby (15f) in March, benefiting from a more positive ride than previously over fences. Off 7 months, shaped as if needing the run when well held fifth behind re-opposing Pure Carbon at Huntingdon at the start of the month and he needs to step up on that to feature.
Strong-travelling sort who scored over hurdles at Uttoxeter (2m) in July. Still going well and challenging leader when unseating 2 out on his chasing bow at Kelso (2m1f) in September but didn't impress with finishing effort when third at Uttoxeter (2m) next time. However, he's not out of things.
Gained a first victory when scoring easily at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) in February. Good second of 4 at Leicester (15.9f, heavy) next time but pulled up both subsequent outings, latterly on the back of 6 months off at Worcester 33 days ago. Has it to prove for now.

Forecasts
Pure Carbon (5/4), Lightning Flash (13/8), Stroll On By (12/1), Dog Fox (12/1), Hypotenus (14/1), Rumoursareflying (18/1), Big Boy Barney (22/1), Lucky Lugger (25/1)
PURE CARBON underlined he's taken very well to this discipline when off the mark at the second attempt at Huntingdon 22 days ago, travelling/jumping noticeably well. He remains one to be positive about and earns the vote to defy a 6 lb higher mark. Dog Fox and Lightning Flash may well emerge as the pair to give Harry Derham's 6-y-o most to think about.
