Runner-up only outing in Irish points and justified support to make a winning start under Rules when an easy winner of a 5-runner novice at Wincanton (21.4f, good to soft) last November, aided by the fall of the odds-on favourite. 5-y-o could progress now handicapping.

Won a weak bumper on Rules debut at Newton Abbot. Finished fourth in a 2m Chepstow novice on hurdle bow and backed that up when filling the same position in a 14-runner maiden at Fontwell last time. Can improve sent handicapping over a longer trip (yard have had success with this family).

10-y-o matched the best of his form from this year when fourth in a 9-runner handicap on reappearance at Newton Abbot (16.8f, soft) 23 days ago. Ought to be competitive but may prove vulnerable to less exposed types.

Made a winning debut at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to soft) in February and stepped up on that when third of 16 on handicap bow over C&D on return. The pair that beat him have since boosted the form and this unexposed sort can improve again.

C&D winner hasn't tasted success over hurdles since late-2022. Unable to justify support at Aintree in May and found to be lame when well beaten at Uttoxeter subsequently. Bit to prove but is on a much lower mark than when narrowly beaten in this race 2 years ago.

Course winner as a novice. Went close off this mark at Ffos Las (20f, heavy) last season but proved inconsistent after (has bled). Lost his action after a blunder when pulled-up on reappearance earlier this month but he's a player if back on song with cheekpieces refitted.

Point winner at the fifth attempt and has shown ability over inadequate trips under Rules, running his best race when fourth on qualifying run at Stratford (16.3f) last month. Likely to have more to offer upped in trip on handicap debut,

£100,000 Point recruit got off the mark over hurdles in maiden at Uttoxeter in December 2023. Didn't improve for handicaps/fences for Olly Murphy and has something to prove back over hurdles (headgear removed) on first start for new yard.

Doubled his tally on second start in cheekpieces when winning a 2½m Ffos Las handicap (heavy) in February. Hit-and-miss overall but did all he could on a rare start over 2m when fourth in a 17-runner handicap at Exeter (16.7f, soft) 14 days ago. Worth a second look with cheekpieces back on.

Left debut form well behind when winning at Hexham (2m) in February. Shaped as though ready for the step up in trip when fourth in a Cheltenham juvenile but took little interest returning from 7 months off when pulled up at Exeter (18.5f) 2 weeks ago. Questions to answer on the back of that run.

Caught the eye in maiden/novice hurdles and similar story in handicaps, again shaping as though 2m is on the sharp side when third at Ffos Las on final start last season. Given a considerate return to action, finishing with running left at Exeter (16.7f) and makes appeal now back up in trip.

Forecasts

Lundi Noir (2/1), A Perfect Day (4/1), High Tea (9/2), Klic Boum (13/2), Call Me Legend (8/1), Moorland Rambler (12/1), Valens Bruyee (16/1), Midnight Ginger (25/1), Lucky One (33/1), Analiese (40/1), Itsnoteasy (80/1)

Verdict

LUNDI NOIR was having only his second start when finishing third over C&D on his handicap debut/reappearance last month and with that form working out well, he's fancied to improve to land this competitive race. 5-y-o handicap debutants A Perfect Day and Call Me Legend both should have more to offer, while Klic Boum has been crying out for this step back up in trip and he's one to be interested in, particularly if supported.
