5/2
£40,000 Irish point winner who confirmed abundant Rules debut promise when landing a 17f Carlisle novice hurdles in good style in February. Unsurprisingly struggled in Grade 1 company at Aintree next time and this unexposed 5-y-o needs a close look now pitched into a handicap.

Consistent maiden on Flat in France and took well to hurdles for Rebeca Menzies last term, finishing runner-up 3 times prior to getting his head in front in maiden at Sedgefield. Still in with a shout when falling at the last in a Musselburgh handicap on New Year's Day and he's not discounted.

Landed a pair of handicap hurdles a couple of seasons back, but he was below par last term and is probably worth taking on back from an 8-month break.

13/8
French import who steadily improved for new connections last season, runner-up in a Perth handicap hurdle on final run of that campain. Progressed again when going one better over this C&D on seasonal reappearance and an 8 lb rise may not be enough to stop her.

7/2
Point winner who shaped encouragingly switched to Rules when second in a Newcastle bumper last October. Subsequently failed to threaten in novice events in this sphere, but was prominent in the betting for his handicap debut when last seen in March (fell 4 out) and he remains of interest.

6/1
Fair maiden hurdle winner in Ireland and left very low-key debut for this yard well behind when belying odds of 33/1 in an Ayr handicap 17 days ago. 5 lb rise fair enough and she will be a danger to all if able to build on that.

Forecasts

Magnolia (13/8), Joltin N Jiving (5/2), Travis Wheatley (7/2), Dee's Getaway (6/1), Jaminoz (8/1), Kingston Narcissus (18/1), Rafferty's Return (18/1)

Verdict

The mares MAGNOLIA and Dee's Getaway both come into this on the back of personal bests, winning handicaps over this C&D and at Ayr respectively. Preference is for the former, who possesses a more appealing profile of the two having progressed with each of her five starts for present connections and an 8 lb rise looks manageable. Travis Wheatley could prove to be best of the boys, though unexposed handicap debutant Joltin N Jiving also enters calculations.
