Winner of a bumper and maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott in Ireland, and she was runner-up on her second start for this yard in a Hereford handicap hurdle in November 2023. However, seen out just twice since (well held on each occasion) and probably best watched sent chasing following 18 months off.

Reacted well to a tongue tie when placed on 2 of his last 3 starts in handicap hurdles and progressed further when running out a convincing winner on chase debut at Huntingdon (23.6f, heavy) in January. However, mistakes have proved costly both starts since and a more assured round is needed.

Modest hurdler, but managed to get his head in front at Plumpton in May (despite hanging badly left) and shaped well when third in a 6-runner handicap on recent chase debut at Fontwell (21.6f, good). Blinkers refitted and he's a big player off the same mark with improvement likely.

Runner-up sole outing in Irish points and shaped well when occupying same spot in a bumper at Ffos Las in March 2024. Hasn't pulled up any trees in 3 runs over hurdles, but Harry Cobden again booked and this 5-y-o may well be seen in a better light now upped in trip for this chase/handicap bow.

Successful on second of 2 starts in point bumpers (May 2024), but has hasn't show much in a bumper/3 starts over hurdles and a big step forward is needed now switched to fences.

17/2
Maiden hurdler who left his inauspicious chase debut behind when taking a 5-runner handicap at Warwick (3m, good), jumping far with greater proficiency. However, he has followed that with a couple of low-key efforts and others make greater appeal.

4/1
Modest maiden hurdler/chaser. Addition of a tongue strap (discarded here) failed to help eke out any improvement when fourth of 7 at Ffos Las when last seen in February, but he has edged down to a plausible mark and is not without each-way hope.

Runner-up sole outing in points and stepped up on very low-key bumper/hurdles form when third in a 5-runner Fakenham handicap (24.2f, good to soft) on chase debut last month. Again 'wrong' at the weights and while she's not a forlorn hope, it's likely that she'll again find one or two too good.

Forecasts

Express Surprise (7/2), The Big Reveal (4/1), I'm Your Buckaroo (4/1), King Of Thieves (4/1), Grand Sabre (17/2), Steal The Moves (10/1), Ballintara (10/1), Damekap (11/1), Weseekherthere (16/1), Galway Mahler (20/1)

Verdict

If there's one of these who is holding secrets from the handicapper it's surely KING OF THIEVES, who didn't show much over hurdles but the fact that he was runner-up on his sole start between the flags augurs well ahead of this step up in trip/switch to fences. Furthermore, the 5-y-o again has the services of Harry Cobden and looks well-handicapped judged on his effort in a Ffos Las bumper last year. I'm Your Buckaroo shaped well on his chase debut and is feared most ahead of The Big Reveal.
