Much improved on debut for this yard when opening his account in a 10-runner handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, soft) in February. Followed up over 2m at Ffos Las next time (again on soft) and both this 11 lb higher mark and the forecast quicker ground pose questions now switched to fences.

Point/hurdles winner who somewhat belatedly built on the promise of his chase debut second in May 2024 when, equipped with a first-time tongue strap, making all in a 7-runner handicap at Stratford (19.4f, good) 3 weeks ago. 4 lb nudge fair enough and another bold show could be on the way.

Scored over hurdles at Southwell last November and doubled tally in this sphere at the same course (15.8f, good to firm) back from a break earlier this month. Jumped better on that occasion than has often been the case in the past and chance up 6 lb if able to deliver another assured round.

Finally off the mark over hurdles when landing a Sedgefield maiden hurdle (19.8f, good to soft) on latest start in April. The fact that he was a winner of his sole start between the flags offers some hope ahead of this switch to fences, but some of the others are more appealing nonetheless.

Scored at Cartmel in August and has remained in good form since, again finding just one too good when chasing home runaway winner Dunstall Rambler at Worcester (16.5f, good to soft). Toby Wynne partners stablemate Neigh Botha this time, but this 8-y-o is one to consider all the same.

Best effort when second of 9 in a Doncaster novice hurdle last November. Has failed to build on that since, though, and will need to improve for the switch to the larger obstacles if he's to play a leading role here.

Still a maiden following 9 attempts overall, but signed off last season with solid placed efforts in handicap chases at Chepstow and Worcester (both at around 2m on good/good to soft). Remains lightly-raced in this sphere and merits respect.

Regained the winning thread at Worcester last September before following up in this race 12 months ago. Attempts to repeat the does off the same mark this time round, but below par when last seen in April (since undergone a wind op) and, given his record fresh, this may not be the time to catch him.

Some fair efforts over hurdles and this former pointer (runner-up sole start between the flags) has made the frame on each of his 3 starts in this sphere, most recently finishing fourth of 10 at Southwell (20.4f, good to firm). This drop back in trip may help and he's not without each-way hope.

Forecasts

Sleeping Satellite (3/1), Mr Mahler (7/2), Dexter (7/2), Rodney (13/2), Mutual Respect (15/2), Rehill Relic (11/1), Neigh Botha (14/1), Dj Pete (16/1), Supreme George (28/1)

Verdict

Though SLEEPING SATELLITE's profile now has something of a patchy look, he was well-served by the switch to front-running tactics when scoring at Stratford earlier this month and, still on a good mark up 4 lb, the 7-y-o is taken to strike again. If fully tuned-up following a break Dj Pete could have a say, while stablemates Neigh Botha and Dexter also enter calculations.
