C&D winner who ran out an emphatic winner at Chester (10.3f) in July and following a good third at listed level there, he resumed winning ways in determined fashion in 14-runner handicap at York (10.2f) 2 weeks ago. Conditions will hold no fears and he's respected on the back of a 2 lb rise.

Produced a career best to end a losing run down in grade at Newcastle in December. Largely struggled this year but best not judged too harshly on his midfield effort in the Cambridgeshire (had hopeless task from position). Not dismissed from steadily easing mark.

Ended long losing run stretching back to the Cambridgeshire in 2022 in a 10f handicap in Bahrain in January. Resumed from 6 months off with a solid third at Goodwood (12f) in August and even longer trip may have caught him out when down the field at Newbury (13.3f) latest. This more suitable.

Goes well when the mud is flying registering back-to-back victories at Goodwood last autumn and he comes here in good heart, runner-up at Sandown/Goodwood on each of his last 2 starts. Promising rider takes off a handy 5 lb and he's another worth a look returning to this longer trip.

8-y-o who capitalised on a sliding mark when scoring over C&D in September and better than he could show when sixth of 10 in handicap at Epsom (10.1f, good, 3/1) 27 days ago, finishing with running left having been short of room. Each-way claims for all he's never defied a mark this high.

Highly-progressive 2-y-o, culminating with a listed win in France. However, his close-up Hamilton fifth in July his only real effort of note in handful of starts this campaign, capitulating quickly having raved up with the sound pace in a C&D handicap 6 weeks ago. Blinkers now reached for.

Seven wins in a fantastic season, including Racing League events at Chepstow and Southwell in August. Even better form in defeat of late, worn down close home when third of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (10.2f) 23 days ago. Excellent advert for this yard and expected to go well again.

All the better for his reappearance/refitting of a visor when emphatically ending losing run at Ripon (9.7f) in April. Solid placed efforts next 2 starts and whilst performances have been mixed more recently, the handicapper is steadily relinquishing his grip at least.

Won his first 2 starts for this yard on joining from Denis Hogan and has essentially remained in good form since, posting a good second of 7 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 12 days ago. This tougher back up in grade but he's another with an each-way shout. Cheekpieces back on.

Improved to make a winning handicap debut at Southwell in June and in-the-frame next 4 starts. Probably best not judged too harshly on his midfield C&D effort 44 days ago (steady pace against him) and he remains with some potential at 1¼m.

Forecasts

Alpha Crucis (85/40), Crowd Quake (4/1), El Burhan (4/1), Fantasy Believer (7/1), Grey Cuban (15/2), Immediate Effect (9/1), Savvy Victory (11/1), Sportingsilvermine (11/1), Square D'alboni (12/1), Have Secret (14/1), Mustazeed (20/1), Majestic (28/1)

Verdict

Low-mileage 3-y-o EL BURHAN got firmly back on the up in no uncertain terms when running out a comfortable winner of a 13-runner handicap at Ayr 37 days ago and a 6 lb rise for that career-best display may not be enough to prevent George Boughey's son of New Bay going in again. Alpha Crucis and Grey Cuban also arrive in excellent heart and are feared, as is Crowd Quake who has enjoyed a tremendous 2025 already.
