Enthusiastic front-runner made a winning debut over hurdles at Sedgefield this time last year and bounced back to land decisive handicap victories at Ludlow and Fontwell in the spring. Found things too competitive at Cheltenham last time but capable of better in a small field back down in class.

Won a juvenile maiden hurdle on first start for Harry Derham but has struggled in deeper handicaps more recently, fit from the Flat when fourth in a 13-runner 4-y-o handicap at Chepstow 9 days ago. Cheekpieces refitted and should be seen to better effect in calmers waters on slower ground.

Made a successful reappearance on soft ground in this race last year (races off a 4 lb lower mark here) and finished the season in good heart when fifth in the Swinton at Haydock in May. Makes plenty of appeal down in grade.

Three-time winner on the Flat (including on heavy ground) and off the mark over hurdles with a workmanlike success at Stratford in July. Matched that form when runner-up in a 5-runner C&D handicap last month and should remain competitive off 1 lb higher.

€135,000 purchase after finishing third in French Flat maiden. Opened his hurdles account at the third attempt at Taunton (16.5f) but struggled to go the pace when finishing midfield in a much more competitive handicap at Sandown. Still early days but will need to improve following a wind operation.

Made all in juvenile hurdles at Sedgefield and Kempton this time last year and returned to that sort of form on sole start for Daisy Hitchens when second in a Newton Abbot seller (18.5f) last month. Interesting to see if he can back that up in a more competitive handicap on first start for new yard.

Forecasts
Nap Hand (7/4), Tapley (15/8), Nardaran (4/1), Turn And Finish (10/1), Continuance (14/1), Model Approach (18/1)
TAPLEY made a successful reappearance in the 2024 renewal off this race and is fancied to repeat the feat off a 4 lb lower mark. Turn and Finish should be more competitive back in calmer waters with cheekpieces refitted, while the exuberant Continuance could run well if settling on the front-end.
