Winning start over fences at Chepstow last October and has made the frame on several occasions since, most notably when runner-up off this mark at Hereford in February. Closed off last season with a couple of low-key efforts, but will have a serious chance if resuming in top form.

Immediate improvement with a visor enlisted in August, bagging back-to-back C&D handicap chases within the space of 9 days. However, the wheels have well and truly come off the last twice (latterly tried in first-time blinkers) and cheekpieces back on here.

Belatedly took advantage of a much-reduced mark when landing a Ffos Las handicap (23.8f, heavy) when last seen in February. Remains on a good mark up 5 lb, but record when fresh in recent seasons hasn't been great.

In good form this summer and finally off the mark in 4-runner handicap chase over C&D in July. Placed over hurdles here on 2 of last 3 starts and poor effort in this sphere in between can be attributed to the soft ground he encountered that day. Still, he looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Back on track following a wind op, runner-up in an Exeter handicap chase in April prior to opening his account in this sphere at Warwick (3m, good) later that month. Jumping has let him down the last twice, but he will certainly have a chance if sure-footed this time.

Winless following a dozen attempts over hurdles, but bagged a 5-runner Fontwell handicap (3¼m, good to soft) on just his second start in this sphere 15 days ago. Only gone up 2 lb and while there can be no guarantees that he'll back that up, he will be a big player if managing to do so.

Forecasts

Lock Out (5/2), Of Corse I Can (7/2), Blackacre (7/2), Testflight (9/2), Moonlight Artist (5/1), Esperti (16/1)

Verdict

LOCK OUT's best performance of last season was his winning reappearance at Chepstow, which was the second time he has won a race on the back of a break of five months or more. He resumes on a good mark and may well continue the theme of winning when fresh. Recent Fontwell winner Of Corse I Can is the clear main danger, despite lingering doubts as to whether he will build on that. If Moonlight Artist delivers a clean round of jumping he will be a threat, too.
