Seemingly campaigned with handicaps in mind but has been handed a stiff-looking mark and couldn't make the necessary improvement switched to a handicap when seventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, good to soft). Cheekpieces on and upped further in trip but needs more.
On a long losing run and hasn't shown the same consistency in recent races, latest when well held fifth of 10 in a handicap hurdle (10/1) at Worcester (23f, good) 45 days ago. Can be competitive if recapturing early season form but may again be vulnerable for win purposes.
Left behind previous efforts when nearly making a successful handicap debut at Worcester (20f, good) last month, only headed final 100 yards. One of the least exposed and may yet be capable of better.
Winner at Perth off 7 lb higher last September but lost his way for Jessica Bedi. Joins the excellent James Owen yard off a career-low mark and looks well-treated if the change of scenery (and headgear) does the trick.
Broke his maiden (off this mark) in a novice handicap at Stratford last July. Seemingly hasn't been the easiest to train of late, below form following 4 months off when a well held fourth of 10 over C&D in May. Will need to be at his best returning from another 4-month absence.
From a good family and offered something to work with on debut at Stratford last year but hasn't built on that. Disappointed upped in trip on handicap debut and showed little back from 6 months off at Worcester (2m) in June. Steps back up in trip with cheekpieces fitted and will need to improve.
3-time winner over fences for Chris Grant and ran better with cheekpieces refitted on second start for new connections, finishing third of 9 in a handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, good) 18 days ago. Should be competitive if he can back that up.
Successful over fences here in September but didn't build on an eye-catching return over hurdles at Warwick (25f) in May last year, last seen finishing pulled up over C&D last August. Usual tongue strap refitted on first start for Barry Brennan and one to note in the betting on reappearance.
Second on debut at Ffos Las in June 2022 but hasn't been easy to keep sound. Showed a bit more when fifth of 6 at this course in June but couldn't build on that upped in trip at Worcester last month. First-time headgear applied but a leap of faith is required (yard also saddle Inspector Lynley).

Forecasts
Shantou Lucky (5/6), Bebside Banter (13/2), Inspector Lynley (7/1), Locked Down Lad (10/1), He Is A Cracker (11/1), Jack The Savage (18/1), Barrow Ranger (20/1), Ghost Pepper (22/1), Of Corse I Can (25/1)
SHANTOU LUCKY has fallen to a career-low mark and may be able to enhance James Owen's fine record with new recruits. Locked Down Lad was much improved when second on handicap debut at Worcester last month and rates the chief danger, while Jack The Savage continues on a long losing run but is handicapped to be competitive if back on song.
- Locked Down Lad10/1
- Jack The Savage18/1
