Ended lengthy losing run in good style when taking a 6-runner handicap at Worcester (2½m, good to soft) in May. Didn't do much wrong when runner-up off 4 lb higher at Uttoxeter next time and another bold show could be on the way.

Sold out of Henry De Bromhead's yard for just £5,000 in June and while his efforts at Newton Abbot and Uttoxeter in July were creditable, his latest display was pretty lacklustre. Looks vulnerable.

Won 4 times over fences in 2023 and there were positives to glean from his reappearance spin over hurdles at Uttoxeter in June, particularly bearing in mind that he was returning from a 14-month absence. Very much of interest back in this sphere.

Second at Newton Abbot in June and, though disappointing there next time (ridden too aggressively), he got firmly back on track when making all at Stratford (19.4f, good to firm) recently. 4 lb rise not the end of the world and he will be a threat if in a similar mood here.

Dual hurdles winner at Newcastle and this course earlier this year, and chase debut at Warwick when last seen in May was not devoid of promise. Has since undergone a wind op and better can be expected from this 5-y-o.

Forecasts

Magistrato (1/1), Whodini (7/2), Gwennie May Star (11/2), Aslukwoodhavit (8/1), Northern Bound (17/2)

Verdict

Having shaped encouragingly over hurdles back from 14 months off at Uttoxeter, WHODINI is appealing returned to the larger obstacles here. The 8-y-o is 2 lb lower compared to when registering his latest success in this sphere at Ayr in November 2023 and he gets the nod ahead of Northern Bound and likely improver Gwennie May Star.
