€60,000 Mehmas colt. Overcame greenness when winning a 5-runner maiden at this C&D (firm, 5/4) on debut 27 days ago, travelling fluently before asserting under hands and heels. Should have more to offer but carries penalty in hot-looking race.

New Bay colt. €150,000 yearling, Strong in betting but ultimately disappointing on debut but was much better than the result when sixth of 8 in maiden at Ffos Las (7.4f, good) 25 days ago, finishing with running left after being denied a run from 3f out. Open to progress.

Too Darn Hot colt. Suited by the step up in trip and improved from his debut when fifth of 12 in maiden at Goodwood (7f, good, 17/2) 28 days ago. Nearest at the finish there and should go close over this slightly longer trip.

€12,000 2-y-o by Starman. Very green and always behind in a novice (80/1) at Haydock (7f, good to firm) on debut 22 days ago. Needs to leave that form long way behind.

70,000 gns yearling, Palace Pier colt. 16/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) on debut 22 days ago. Yard's juveniles often improve from debut but this looks a bit of an ask second time up.

Forecasts

Lion Of Alba (10/11), Prime Success (7/2), No Direction (6/1), Amirlan (8/1), Dryburgh (9/1), Senor Campanaro (22/1), Risk Averse Rebel (66/1)

Verdict

LION OF ALBA stepped up plenty on his debut effort when fifth in a valuable Goodwood maiden last time and gets the nod in an interesting contest. Amirlan made an encouraging start with a view to going further at Doncaster and is also shortlisted, whilst Dryburgh was much better than the bare result at Ffos Las and shouldn't be dismissed.
