Maiden lost his way for Paul Gilligan in Ireland and has been pulled-up on both starts for current connections. Plenty to prove returning from 6 months off.

Fairly useful winner at 14f on Flat in 2021 but was unable to replicate that form over hurdles for current connections the following season. Would have finished well held bar for falling 3 out on his return from nearly 3 years off at Worcester last month. Improvement to find in first-time headgear.

Capitalised on a career-low mark when winning under a strong Sean Bowen ride at Newton Abbot (18.5f) on second start for new yard but was well held off his revised mark over the same C&D last month. Went with little encouragement back on the Flat last time and may come up short returned to hurdles.

6/1
A fair 13f winner on the Flat in France who showed an aptitude for hurdling when third on debut in this sphere at Kempton last season. Didn't build on that in subsequent qualifying runs and while he's made little impact on two Flat starts this year, he's worth a market check now sent handicapping.

Showed some ability in bumpers but low-key start over hurdles for previous connections and again finished well-held on debut for Olly Murphy at Uttoxeter (15.8f, 11/1) last month. Likely needed the run that day and interesting to see if market vibes are more positive upped in trip on handicap debut.

Remain a maiden but arrives in good form, placing for the second consecutive start when third at Stratford (22f) last month, going with plenty of zest but not quite seeing out the trip as well as the pair who beat him. Should give a good account over this sharper test.

Remains a maiden aged 10 but has largely been in good form this season. Wasn't disgraced when third at Stratford (18.7f) last month, pulling clear of the fourth who ran well subsequently. Entitled to be in the mix in this sort of company.

Maiden lost his way in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and offered little when pulled-up on stable debut last month. Questions to answer now.

Brought along gradually in maiden hurdles but was well beaten on handicap debut at this course (21.8f) in August last year, seemingly more to it than the longer trip. Has had wind surgery in the interim and the betting should guide expectations on reappearance.

Maiden was well-backed but couldn't better previous efforts when fifth on penultimate run at Newton Abbot (16.8f) and he fared no better upped in trip at Worcester (20f) last month. Needs to step forward on what he's shown so far.

Down the field sole outing in bumpers and well held over hurdles to date. Now tried in cheekpieces over a longer trip on handicap debut but is difficult to make a case for unless the market hints at improvement.

Remains with little form, well beaten from out of the handicap (again 8 lb out of the weights here) when twelfth of 16 in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good) 44 days ago. Best to look elsewhere.

Forecasts

Buxted Reel (3/1), Grasshopper Time (10/3), Pertemps Diamond (4/1), Gms Prince (5/1), For You Buzz (11/2), Carlton (11/2), Justice Roll (6/1), Stiletto (13/2), Dreamweaver (14/1), Macmolly (20/1), Slemish (22/1), Mayday Games (50/1), Sweet Serene (80/1), Across The Ocean (125/1)

Verdict

Difficult to be confident about any of these but GRASSHOPPER TIME has less to prove than most arriving on the back of 2 solid efforts over hurdles and a return to a sharper test may see him get off the mark. Gms Prince has the form to be in the mix but remains a maiden as a 10-year-old. Of the rest, Carlton and Buxted Reel could both have more to offer now stepped up in trip, with Pertemps Diamond one to note for support now handicapping over a longer trip on second start for Olly Murphy.
