Has run well on AW including a C&D second in January and finished seventh of 10 at Southwell over 7f (16/1) 24 days ago when returning from 7 months off. Should be closer to form here.

Has performed better on AW, running third in a handicap at Southwell over 11f. Finished 10th of 11 in a handicap at Wetherby 67 days ago, well positioned but lacked necessary gears when they gallop quickened. Likely to be ridden prominently dropped to 1m and isn't ruled out dropping in class.

Shaped with credit when third over 6f at Thirsk before failing badly to build on that promise when 7th of 10 in AW handicap at Chelmsford (7/1) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces removed but has something to prove now stepped up to 1m.

Shown fair form in 10f turf handicaps for previous yard and had been off for 11 months prior to finishing eighth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (15/2) 37 days ago when looking rusty. Cheekpieces back on for first AW run and market may guide to expectations on second start for new connections.

Second at Redcar in June and fourth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (14/1) 17 days ago, when carried head awkwardly. Drop back to 8f and return to all-weather may suit but may need further respite from the handicapper

In-form performer with three AW wins this season at various distances. Won a 12-runner handicap at Newcastle (7/1) by 3¼ lengths 30 days ago, making smooth headway before drawing clear in the final furlong. Should still go well from revised mark.

Lightly-raced maiden showed a bit more when third of 10 in novice at Kempton (125/1) 19 days ago, without being given an unduly hard time. Form has been given a boost and should be better suited to handicap company. Potential improver.

On a long losing run since sole win in April 2022 (now 35 races without a win) but ran one of this season's better races when third of 12 at this C&D (11/1) without headgear 28 days ago. Continues to fall in weights but overall record is worth bearing in mind.

Ran respectably in four consecutive handicaps this summer, placing third once and fourth three times. Won 12-runner handicap at this C&D 28 days ago, making good headway and going clear without customary hood. Both career wins at this track but handicapper has had made life tougher.

Has been in better form of late with a 2nd place finish and third of 14 in handicap at same C&D (9/1) 24 days ago for new connections. First-time blinkers replace cheekpieces today and ought to give his running again.

Without a win in 16 starts but on a career-low mark, failed to meet expectations when finished sixth of 12 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 28 days ago when slowly into stride and never settled. On a workable mark if he can find some form.

Finished second by a head at this C&D in April (off 2 lb higher) and again ran respectably under positive tactics when fourth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (16/1) 32 days ago. Solid claims returning to the all-weather.

Winner at Southwell (1m) in February. Fourth of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (15/2) 22 days ago, sweating up and running below form. Cheekpieces return and remains to be seen whether that does the trick.

Forecasts

Tiempo Alegre (7/2), Ventura Dream (9/2), Without Compromise (13/2), Midnight Ravens (15/2), Woodleigh (8/1), Jack Daniel (9/1), Volto Di Medusa (10/1), Mercurius Power (11/1), Eva Rosie (12/1), Francesi (14/1), Eden Storm (14/1), Barleybrown (16/1), Tresca (25/1), Rapido Girl (28/1)

Verdict

A tight handicap and there doesn't appear to be an abundance of pace on. JACK DANIEL has bounced back to form returned to positive tactics and marginally gets the vote having finished runner-up over C&D from a 2 lb higher mark earlier this season. Eva Rosie has been thriving on all-weather this season with three wins, most recently impressing with a dominant 3¼ length success at Newcastle. She can give another good account, while Tresca showed more last time and could improve on handicap debut.
