Promising sort. 3/1, third of 7 in maiden at Pontefract (8f, good) on debut 16 days ago. Will be more street-wise this time and obvious claims here for his top yard.

32,000 gns 3-y-o, Pinatubo gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart 5f/6f winner Sceptical and useful 1m-1½m winner Remorse. Yard seldom strikes with newcomers. Has undergone a wind op.

Promising type. Second of 9 in maiden (10/1) at Redcar (7f, good) 23 days ago. Should progress and he will ensure that Golden Horse doesn't have things all entirely his own way.

Twice-raced filly. 150/1, fifth of 7 in novice at this C&D (good to firm) 26 days ago. Big step forward will be needed if she's to trouble the principals in this maiden.

Forecasts

Golden Horse (1/3), They All Know Me (9/4), Spirit Of Nature (16/1), Angelardo (66/1), Precious Sapphire (125/1), Soham's Roger (250/1)

Verdict

It's likely that GOLDEN HORSE will benefit from a stiffer test in time, but there is nevertheless immediate promise at this trip judged on his highly encouraging debut third at Pontefract where he came from much further back than the pair that beat him. An expensive purchase and in good hands, he can be expected to take a step forward here and prove too strong for They All Know Me, who should pick up a race himself before long. Newcomer Spirit of Nation could be best of the rest.
