Bumper winner who failed to progress over hurdles for Dan Skelton. Won first 2 starts over fences around this time last year but disappointed on both outings in the autumn. Player if back to best after 6 months off.

Mid-division at best in novice/maiden hurdles for Stuart Crawford and went with very little encouragement making her debut for new connections at Carlisle last month. Now switched to chasing with something to prove.

Rather hollow second in a Leicester handicap hurdle prior to Christmas and produced a moody display when last seen in that sphere in March. Hard to fancy having since left Ben Pauling.

Posted good second of 12 in handicap chase at Exeter (17.5f, good to soft) on debut over fences in October but reverted to her sulky ways next time. Might get an easy lead here though and she's not ruled after 6 months off.

Showed improved form to get off the mark back in a handicap hurdle in 10-runner event at Southwell (15.8f, good) last May and ran at least as well when chasing home a well-treated rival at at Hereford (19.7f, good to firm) 28 days ago. The one to beat if translating that to fences.

Arrives after back-to-back placed efforts, latterly when third at Hereford (16f, good to firm, 9/2) 28 days ago. 8 lb out of the weights this time but could make the podium again.

Forecasts

My Virtue (1/1), Fox Wallace (4/1), Lady Gwen (4/1), Fancy Stuff (9/2), Kimjoy (33/1), Twyford's Diamond (66/1)

Verdict

MY VIRTUE ran well on her return last month and will take the beating if able to replicate that form on chase debut. Lady Gwen isn't the most straightforward of customers but would be of interest if getting back to the form of her chase debut, whilst similar comments apply to Fancy Stuff, who looked an upwardly-mobile mare last spring and may have been rejuvenated by a break.
