Promising start in handicaps, building on his Stratford reappearance third to win 10-runner event at Ffos Las (2½m, heavy) in November. Pulled up at Uttoxeter next time and again below par when third in a 4-runner C&D handicap in February but he'll be a serious player if able to get back on track.

£45,000 buy after Irish point success in October 2021 but seemingly hard to train having made just 3 subsequent appearances under Rules. Still, he took a step forward when runner-up in 19.6f novice here last month and may raise his game another notch now upped in trip for this handicap debut.

Off the mark in a Newton Abbot maiden hurdle last summer but hasn't kicked on in handicaps since and he needs to get back on track.

Improved since returning from a break, making the frame twice at Wetherby in December and off the mark when taking a 10-runner Market Rasen handicap (20.6f, good) last month. He didn't look at all in love with the unorthodox hurdles at Southwell next time and better can be expected here.

Dual bumper winner who left low-key hurdles debut form behind when second in a Worcester maiden in May 2023. However, he hasn't built on that in 3 runs since returning from a lengthy absence in January, pulled up on recent handicap debut here with cheekpieces enlisted. Headgear now discarded.

Pulled up sole outing in points but is from a good family that has served this stable well and he has shown promise in 2 starts over hurdles at up to 21f. Improvement could be on the way now fast-tracked into handicap company and faced with a stiffer test.

Good third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (22.8f, good to soft) in October 2023 but absent since running poorly at Galway later that month. Probably best watched on debut for new yard.

Successful twice between the flags in 2022 and she was runner-up a couple of times in maiden hurdles last term. However, her efforts so far this season have left much to be desired and hopes now pinned on the first-time cheekpieces doing the trick.

Fair bumper winner for Rod Millman but hasn't set the world alight in 5 starts over hurdles for new yard since returning from an 18-month absence in November. Now tried in blinkers.

Little promise in 3 runs over hurdles, again beaten a fair way when fourth of 6 in a maiden hurdle here (19.6f, good) last month. Conversely, he could be seen in a better light now upped in trip for this handicap debut.

Showed fair form when placed twice in bumpers back in 2023 but it's been woeful stuff in this sphere so far and he's entitled to need the run following 11 months off.

Forecasts

Sirekoff (7/2), Fresh Speculation (18/5), Jomig Des Bois (11/2), Glen Road (6/1), Chuggy (7/1), Champetre (7/1), Kallow Point (10/1), Edmond (11/1), Professor Higgins (11/1), Dazzlelikethis (12/1), Tchoupinminzac (25/1), Chatshow Host (33/1), Pour The Wine (50/1), King Casey (50/1)

Verdict

The most interesting of these is CHUGGY, who has shown more than enough in a couple of runs over hurdles to suggest that he will be very competitive off this mark now moving up in trip and into handicap company. Fresh Speculation has proved rather disappointing both starts subsequent to his Ffos Las breakthrough success but the ability is certainly there if he puts his best foot forward, while Champetre and Glen Road are others to consider.
