Cost £290,000 after maiden point success and winner of 2 of his 5 hurdles starts. However, it'd be something of an understatement to say that he hasn't looked enamoured with chasing so far, pulled up on debut in this sphere at Newbury before again running poorly at Warwick. Now tried in cheekpieces.

Off the mark in Irish points (dead-heated) at the third attempt and made a successful Rules debut in a Newcastle novice hurdle last January. Well held in a couple of handicaps in that sphere since and needs to get career back on track now switched to fences on the back of a wind op.

Largely creditable efforts this season, runner-up 3 times on the bounce before opening chase account at Doncaster in December. Added to his tally with a narrow success at Southwell on penultimate start and, though not in the same form back there next time, he has a major chance in this contest.

Successful twice over fences at Cartmel last summer and looked as good as ever back from a break when scoring at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft) in February. The combination of some shoddy jumping and drop back to 2½m proved his downfall here next time and this step back up in trip will be welcomed.

Forecasts

Sean Og (15/8), Mt Fugi Park (2/1), Finn Lough (11/4), Moon Over Mexico (11/2)

Verdict

Though SEAN OG and Finn Lough are more exposed than Moon Over Mexico and Mt Fugi Park, they're nevertheless likely to have this between them, unless the switch to fences/wind op helps Moon Over Mexico to get back on the right path, or the addition of cheekpieces sparks a turnaround where Mt Fugi Park is concerned. Sean Og did the job well back from a break at Catterick prior to finding 2½m too sharp here recently, and he looks the most likely winner now moving back up in trip.
