Gained course win number 9 when edging out Sir Maxi in 8-runner event over at this C&D (9/4) 6 days ago. Carries a double penalty but an 8-day hat-trick is impossible to rule out given his form this time last year.

Unreliable sort. Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. 6/1, managed to put back-to-back creditable efforts together for the first time in a while when third of 8 in handicap at this course (8f) 6 days ago, nearest finish. Others make appeal for win purposes all the same.

C&D winner. 11/1, bit below form third of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 4 weeks ago. Now 2 lb lower than when winning over C&D this time last year and he shouldn't be underestimated.

17/2, fared no better after 6 months off when eighth of 10 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good to firm) back in June. Seemingly hard to get to the track having been absent for another 8 months so looks up against it. Heads back up in trip.

Latest win at Southwell in February. 11/1, wasn't disgraced on this rare venture above his pay grade when fourth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 12 days ago. The returns to Class 6 company is a positive.

Forecasts

Pallas Lord (2/1), Broken Spear (11/4), Bomb Squad (7/2), Captain Vallo (5/1), Turbo Command (9/1), Rooska (20/1)

Verdict

PALLAS LORD recorded his ninth course success over C&D last Thursday and, given his form here around this time last year, Donald Whillans' 7-y-o gets the nod to complete the hat-trick at the expense of Turbo Command, who is now 2 lb lower than when scoring over C&D 12 months ago. Bomb Squad rounds off the shortlist back in down in grade.
