Visored and landed hat-trick when winning handicap chases at Wetherby/Leicester and a Haydock handicap hurdle this winter. Well below that level under both codes since, however, and whilst he may have found stamina stretched at Plumpton (28.4f) latest, he has a bit to prove at present.
Irish raider who arrives on a losing run of ten but back on track stepped up markedly in trip when third at Windsor (28.7f) in January, doing well given he made a significant mid-race error. Boasts an unappealing strike rate but one to consider nevertheless.
Ran away with a Hexham handicap (24.2f) in June and back to winning ways when forging clear for success at Kelso (21.6f) in November. Creditable third at Newcastle prior to disappointing at Musselburgh (lugged left throughout) but he appeals as a likely candidate to bounce back.

Winner of 2 of his 3 races over hurdles in 2023/24 and confirmed initial promise over fences when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Musselburgh (23.6f) 24 days ago. Unexposed at this sort of trip and he's respected nudged up 2 lb.
On a lengthy losing run but did run well in pair of starts over fences/hurdles in August. Final start when seventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Sligo (25.7f, soft) in October was a respectable one and application of a first-time visor could put an extra edge on him returned to chasing.
Failed to trouble the judge over hurdles but improved on previous chase exploits back from 8 months off when winning 13-runner C&D handicap chase in December, drawing clear straight. Handicapper has reacted with an 8 lb rise but he could yet have more to offer on that evidence.
Successful twice over fences at Cartmel (21f) last summer and quickly bounced back to form with an excellent second at Hexham (24.2f) in October. Below best when ninth of 10 in handicap chase at Sedgefield (3¼m) later that month but not one to write off back from a break.

Forecasts
From The Ashes (6/4), Poetry Man (13/8), One More Stroke (7/1), Breakdance Kid (10/1), East Street (14/1), Sean Og (16/1), Broken Ice (28/1)
FROM THE ASHES' strike rate tempers enthusiasm but he returned to form when third at Windsor on his latest outing 37 days ago, doing well to recover from a serious mid-race error. He gets the narrow vote to come out on top, with last-time-out winners One More Stroke and Poetry Man others of interest.
