Progressed into a useful performer over hurdles last term and promises to make an even better chaser, a theory backed up by his successful debut in this sphere at Leicester (2½m, soft). Didn't have much to beat that day but created a fine impression all the same and he's clearly a smart prospect.

Wide-margin winner of 23f Uttoxeter maiden hurdle in February 2022 and has the look of a real chasing type. However, his jumping looked pretty shaky on debut in this sphere following a mammoth absence at Haydock in December and he has a bit to prove for now.

Bumper winner who confirmed abundant promise of his hurdles debut near-miss when landing a maiden at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) in good style. That was back in March 2023 and subsequent absence is naturally a concern, but he remains with potential and is one to note now switched to fences.

Dual bumper winner who also won a pair of novice hurdles last season. Bettered what she showed on debut in this sphere when second in a 4-runner Ayr handicapr (20.5f, soft) last month, but that form still leaves her some way short of what'll be required to topple Butch on these terms.

Verdict

Having impressed with his accurate jumping on chase debut at Leicester, BUTCH should have little trouble following up here before going on to better things. Shomen Uchi has been absent for the best part of two years, but he looked promising in bumpers/over hurdles and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on now tackling the larger obstacles. Lunar Discovery didn't do much wrong on her second chase start at Ayr but she lacks the potential of the aforementioned rivals.
