Admirably consistent having won 6 times (3 times in this sphere) and placed 6 times in his 12 starts to date. Produced a career-best when winning over C&D in December and we can assume that connections have had this raced earmarked ever since. Going the right way and has to be respected.

Landed 2 wins from 3 in maiden/novice hurdles and ran creditably in a pair of novice graded races since, shaping as though he'll be most effective when faced with a greater test of stamina. He should get that tackling a big-field handicap for the first time and looks open to further improvement.

Useful hurdler who has done his winning on soft/heavy ground. including over C&D last month when better than ever over hurdles, beating Kilbarry Hill by a length under same conditional jockey. Up 4 lb for that victory and will finding this tougher racing off a career-high mark.

Dual winner in this sphere and not yet fully exposed as a hurdler. Clearly hasn't taken to chasing in last two starts but not without interest on return to smaller obstacles now race-fit and over a distance that should suit, with headgear also tried.

Back to very best following wind surgery when winning readily at Newbury before excellent effort on first go at this trip when third in a valuable Windsor handicap, doing much the best of those held up. Not short of speed and leading claims if stamina holds for slightly longer trip/a truly-run race.

Likeable mare who made it 6 wins on the spin in Listed hurdle at Galway (2m) in July. Had a dip in form afterwards but bounced back with headgear refitted when creditable second to a decent sort at Musselburgh (23.8f) earlier this month. Could have more to offer on handicap hurdle debut.

Had been shaping up well in 2023/24, including good fourth in Betfair Hurdle at Newbury, but had a rough time of things this season, jumping poorly on chase debut before being hampered and pulled up on return to hurdles. No excuses for latest poor effort though and connections quick to try headgear.

Won first 2 starts for James Owen (including on debut here) and improved when second in valuable Betfair Stayers Handicap at this venue (3m, heavy) in November. Poor in first time cheekpieces latest (headgear off now) but no surprise to see him bounce back at a course where he's been so effective.

Very lightly-raced for his age and made quite the impression winning on handicap debut at Kelso (22.7f) last term. Steadily progressive this season, building on likeable reappearance when creditable second of 7 at Ayr (20.4f) and a stronger gallop/extra distance could easily see him improve again.

Useful handicap hurdler on his day and posted very respectable effort over C&D on penultimate run, beating all bar a progressive one under a positive front-running ride. Had a pipe-open over an inadequate trip on comeback in November but it's a bit disconcerting that we haven't seen him since.

Five-time hurdle winner has been quiet in two runs this year, in keeping with the form of his yard, latest (51 days ago) when finishing down the field in a race he'd won the previous year at Aintree. Tried at 3 miles now but others make greater appeal.

Progressed from maiden hurdle win at Hereford when scoring on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) in December and showed further improvement when second to Uncle Bert over C&D, impressing with the manner in which he moved through the race. Lightly-raced and improving for excellent yard.

Progressive sort has won 3 of his 5 hurdles starts, improving for the step up to 3 miles when landing a 9-runner handicap hurdle at Ayr last month, responding generously for pressure. Remains unexposed as a staying hurdler and isn't one to discount on only his sixth career start.

Verdict

It looked unlikely that the strong-travelling JIPCOT would be plying his trade over 3m after placing in the Imperial Cup last spring, but he has been transformed since having wind surgery after a disappointing start to the season, proving better than ever for tackling longer trips. This should be run to suit and he can take this under an ultra-patient ride. There are a host of promising staying types among the rest, notably Nab Wood tackling 3m for the first time and the improving Kilbarry Hill.
