Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:11 | Winning time: 4m 13.79s

Sunnyvilla⁵²

Age: 10| Weight: 12-0| J: Danny McMenamin| T: N G Richards| OR: 120| D

5/4

Notched third chase success for Donal Hassett in Ireland when landing a Cork handicap last spring. Proved better than ever when making a winning start for new connections at Haydock in December and, if in a similar mood here, a 7 lb rise may not be enough to stop him.

Form: 84413-1

Gua Du Large^h,t²¹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Craig Nichol| T: R M Smith| OR: 118| D

100/1

Useful at his best in Ireland for Henry de Bromhead but form has gone the wrong way this season and it's easy enough to look elsewhere.

Form: 18-44P6

Lively Citizen²¹

Age: 10| Weight: 11-9| J: Sean Quinlan| T: D J Jeffreys| OR: 115| CD

13/2

Hurdles winner at Ffos Las last spring and while his first 3 starts of present campaign (all over hurdles) were low-key, he returned to form back chasing when striking over C&D (soft) 3 weeks ago. Remains on a good mark up 3 lb and another bold show could be on the way.

Form: 46-P971

Rock On Jet^h³⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: B S Hughes| T: G Bewley| OR: 113| CD

6/4

Placed first 3 starts over hurdles and, equipped with a first-time hood, he found some improvement when making all in 2m maiden hurdle (heavy) last month. Looks a chaser in the making (runner-up both runs in maiden points) and very much of interest on debut in this sphere with Brian Hughes booked.

Form: 25-3231

Fusain^t,v1¹⁰¹

Age: 10| Weight: 11-4| J: Henry Brooke| T: P Neville| OR: 110| D

16/1

Dual winner over fences during early 2023 but it's been a struggle since and he was beaten a long way back from a 14-month absence in November.

Form: 133/43-7

Dance Thief⁷⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: Ben Smith⁽⁷⁾| T: R M Smith| OR: 106| CD

11/1

Opened Rules account in a handicap hurdle here last March and placed next 3 starts since, including when going close back here on his reappearance in November. However, didn't take to chasing anything like as well as expected starting out in this sphere at Musselburgh and he's opposable.

Form: 313-226

Forecasts

Sunnyvilla (5/4), Rock On Jet (6/4), Carcaci Castle (6/1), Lively Citizen (13/2), Dance Thief (11/1), Fusain (16/1), Findthetime (33/1), Gua Du Large (100/1)

SUNNYVILLA attracted plenty of support near the off prior to scoring on his seasonal reappearance/debut for this yard at Haydock and, on that evidence, he looks capable of defying a 7 lb rise in the weights. Having returned to form with a C&D success last month, Lively Citizen looks dangerous and chase debutant Rock On Jet, who did the job well in a maiden hurdle here on his latest start, is also accorded plenty of respect.
