MW Paving & Groundworks Handicap Hurdle

Point winner who landed a 3m Musselburgh maiden hurdle in January 2023 but no promise in 2 handicaps in a very light career since. Hood off. Brian Hughes takes the ride again but can still only be watched.

Course hurdle and chase winner and added to his good Sedgefield record when second over fences 10 days ago. Slightly lower mark back hurdling and a bold bid is anticipated.

Hurdle/chaser winner who showed he retains ability on his second run back after an absence when third of 10 in 3m Wetherby handicap hurdle 13 days ago. Would have been a bit closer but for a bad mistake 2 out and merits respect with this return to a slightly longer trip in his favour.

Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, well held on 2m Ayr handicap debut 16 days ago and it remains to be seen whether this significantly longer trip is what's required.

Got back to winning ways in 23f Lingfield handicap last month. Respectable fourth of 14 over 23f at Uttoxeter (heavy) since. Likely to be in the shake-up again.

Largely struggled since landing a 3m Ayr handicap 2 years ago. Did stop the slide when third in this race 12 months ago but not seen again until well held at Newcastle 3 weeks ago. Needs to have come on a lot.

Notched 3 wins in the first half of 2024 (including C&D) but not at best in 2 comeback outings over 25f at Catterick in recent months, finishing a remote third latterly.

Remains a maiden under Rules and has pulled up in chases on last 4 starts, the last 2 for new trainer Joanne Foster. The yard did win this race last year but she's hard to make a good case for on this first hurdle start for well over 2 years.

Twenty six runs since last win in 2021. Placed twice over 23f at Hexham in the autumn but ran one of his moody races back there in December. Has blinkers swapped for cheekpieces.

Winless since May 2023. Respectable third in a course chase on her first run for Rebecca Menzies but has pulled up over fences in her 2 starts since. Possible a return to hurdles and first-time blinkers could spark her back to life.

Yet to fire this term, finishing a well-held seventh of 16 in 3m Wetherby handicap hurdle over Christmas. Not easy to make a case for.

Poor form, although she likely would have won at Hexham last March but for losing momentum at the last. Hasn't managed to get competitive in her 2 runs this winter, though, and can be opposed from 5 lb out of the handicap.
