Made a fine start over fences last season, winning 3 times in handicaps from 6 races. Struggled for form at start of current campaign, but was in share of third when unseating 3 out at Carlisle (20.9f, soft) last time. Now only 1 lb above last winning mark.

Took his form up a notch with cheekpieces enlisted last term, bringing up the hat-trick at Kelso (17.1f) in March. Disputing the lead when unseating rider 3 out at Wetherby on return, but hasn't been in the same form in his 2 starts since.

Successful over hurdles/fences in France and ended last season on the up for current yard, landing back-to-back handicap chases at Chepstow (both at 16f). Stepped up on return when third at Ascot (18.8f, soft) in December and he's not taken lightly.

Successful at Sandown on second start last season but hasn't managed to match that level since. However, showed the benefit of his reappearance when third at this C&D (heavy) in December, so he's one to note from his easing mark.

Dual winner over hurdles and confirmed promise of his chasing debut when winning 5-runner handicap at Newbury (16.4f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago, value for extra having had to overcome a mistake 5 out. Respected with further progress to come.

With reappearance run behind him, proved better than ever when scoring at this C&D (soft) in November, form boosted by the runner-up winning next time. Ran at least as well when second at Chepstow 22 days ago and he's a major player back here.

Forecasts

The Famous Five (5/2), Xcitations (11/4), Prince Quali (4/1), Dr T J Eckleburg (4/1), Prairie Wolf (11/1), Netywell (14/1), Escapeandevade (22/1)

Verdict

DR T J ECKLEBURG showed improved form with a smooth-travelling success at this C&D in November, before bumping into a good prospect at Chepstow last time, so he is taken to resume winning ways returned to this venue. He can see off the challenge of The Famous Five, who should have more to offer on only his third chase start, with Prince Quali also in the mix.
