€52,000 3-y-o, £95,000 4-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Dam unraced sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 29f) Abolitionist. Won sole start in Irish points (Feb 2024) and he's a noteworthy newcomer starting out for top stable.

£85,000 Irish point winner who made a bright start under Rules and shaped like a stayer when second of 6 in bumper at Bangor (16.7f, heavy) on NH debut 39 days ago. May do better but his long-term future almost certainly lies over longer trips.

€46,000 3-y-o, Harzand gelding. Easy winner sole start in points in March and he showed plenty when third of 10 in bumper at Newton Abbot (16.8f) in October, his inexperience under pressure proving his undoing. Open to improvement and considered.

€100,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Brother to 2 winners, including useful hurdler/smart chaser The Big Breakaway, stays 31f. Dam (h82) lightly raced over hurdles. Had wind surgery ahead of debut with tongue tie fitted and he's one to note.

Picked up for £85,000 after winning an Irish point in April. Sent off at 16/1 and shaped like a stayer when sixth of 12 in bumper at Aintree (17f) 6 weeks ago, rallying gradually straight. Open to improvement.

Telescope filly. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser So Said I and fair hurdler/chaser My Lady Grey. Dam (h101), bumper winner. Betting should guide with yard also saddling Crackerjacque.

Forecasts

Gillespie (3/1), Gentleman Toboot (10/3), Big Cadillac (4/1), Lets Mingle (9/2), Douglas Hyde (6/1), Wassailing Along (12/1), Crackerjacque (12/1), A Great Excuse (66/1)

Verdict

GENTLEMAN TOBOOT left the distinct impression his inexperience cost him (went like the winner for a long way) when third on debut in a Newton Abbot bumper 38 days ago. He can put that to use and could be the way to go. Gillespie and Big Cadillac are a couple of highly appealing newcomers from top stables and market support behind either would look significant. Lucinda Russell's filly Lets Mingle is another in the mix, too.
