£150,000 purchase on the back of sole Irish point success and followed up in 4-runner novice hurdle at Worcester (23f) on Rules debut in October. Open to improvement and looks capable of defying a penalty.

Successful on sole outing between the flags and has shown fair form on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers. Upped significantly in trip for hurdling debut. Has had a breathing operation (also tongue tied).

Shaped with encouragement when fifth in a course bumper in November 2022. Amiss on hurdling debut the following month but much better effort when third at Wincanton 11 months on. Off a further 12 months but should have more to offer.

Progressed into a smart chaser during 2021/22 season, winning 4 of his 5 starts. However, proved bitterly disappointing returned to hurdling at Bangor in November 2022 and let down by his jumping in graded company next 2 starts. This far more suitable but has been off 21 months.

Jelani mare. Dam unraced. Failed to complete both starts in points and she can only be watched on Rules/hurdling debut. Wears tongue strap.

Clondaw General (11/10), Histrionic (3/1), Saint Palais (4/1), Jail No Bail (5/1), Janespriceless (66/1), Diagon Alley (66/1)

Verdict

CLONDAW GENERAL looked a strong stayer when making a successful hurdling debut in 4-runner event at Worcester in October and, open to improvement, he's fancied to defy a penalty switched to a track that promises to suit him even better. Jail No Bail clearly isn't the easiest to train but should have more to offer nonetheless, particularly now upped to a staying trip. Histrionic hasn't quite lived up to his price tag so far but shouldn't be written off now switching to hurdling.
