18/1

Has some fairly useful winning hurdles form to his name but pulled up in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f, heavy) final run last season and fell on chasing debut last month. Bit to prove.

Caithness⁵⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 12-1| J: Alan Doyle⁽⁵⁾| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR: 121

11/4

Comfortable all-the-way winner of maiden/handicap over hurdles at Kelso last year. Hit-or-miss after but made an encouraging start over fences after 4 months off when head-second of 5 to The Churchill Lad on chase debut at Hexham 54 days ago. Definite player.

Form: 3606-32

Skycutter²²

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 120| C

11/8

Useful Flat performer and back in good form in handicap hurdles for new yard last term, winning at Carlisle. Positive start to chasing at Warwick on return and mark looks potentially lenient.

Form: 24130-2

Coup De Coeur¹¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: B S Hughes| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 113

5/1

Pair of 17f Sedgefield hurdle wins under Brian Hughes last winter and returned with a creditable second at this course 11 days ago. Has chasing experience in France, so respected back over larger obstacles.

Form: 12410-2

Saladam^t³⁸⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-6| J: R T Dunne| T: O Murphy| OR: 112

5/1

Fair hurdler who has only been seen once since April last year, returning from a further year off now. Has a pointing background, though, and in good hands, so could be of interest switched to chasing.

Forecasts

Skycutter (11/8), Caithness (11/4), Dance Thief (4/1), Coup De Coeur (5/1), Saladam (5/1), Beat Box (7/1), Rich Spirit (18/1)

The handicapper has taken a big chance with SKYCUTTER's mark and, after a solid start to chasing, he makes most appeal for all that Caithness is open to improvement. Coup de Coeur can also be considered.
