6/1

Progressive sort who resumed with a very good second of 10 in 2m handicap hurdle at Ffos Las 41 days ago. Up 3 lb but not taken lightly with this step up in trip a plus.

Form: 2P123-2

Kamsinas²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: J J Burke| T: F O'Brien| OR: 135| C

10/1

Course scorer who resumed his progress when making a winning return in 9-runner handicap hurdle at Aintree (20f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Can make his presence felt here despite a 5 lb rise.

Form: 16010-1

Punta Del Este^t²⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-11| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 134| CD

9/1

C&D winner who shaped encouragingly after 7 months off when third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Carlisle (20f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Can go well again nudged up 1 lb.

Form: 31P01-3

Beat The Bat³⁴⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: Bryan Carver| T: H Fry| OR: 132| D

7/1

Useful bumper winner who quickly made up into a very useful hurdler last winter, scoring at Ascot (19f) before an excellent second in 2m Cheltenham novice. Off 11 months but remains with plenty of potential for handicaps. Interesting.

Form: 210/212-

Josh The Boss^t⁴²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-8| J: Mr Jamie Neild⁽⁷⁾| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 131| D

3/1

Got right back on the up on his return with victory in 17-runner Silver Trophy handicap at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) last month. That form has worked out really well so he's a likely player despite a 7 lb hike.

Form: 1U548-1

Dans Le Vent⁴³

Age: 11| Weight: 11-2| J: Isabel Williams⁽³⁾| T: Evan Williams| OR: 125| C| D

40/1

Course winner who made a promising return from 19 months off when a considerately-handled fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) 43 days ago. Not ruled out if taking a step forward now.

Form: 0FP3U/4

N'Golo^p,t⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-1| J: G Sheehan| T: P Neville| OR: 124| C

28/1

Winner of the 2022 Swinton here and he posted his best run since on the back of a wind op when a fair third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (16f, good) 7 days ago. Needs to build on it.

Form: 210/0-93

Ballygeary^p²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 10-13| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 122| D

50/1

Resumed winning ways at Market Rasen in June and might have needed the run after 4 months off at Aintree, though he'll need to show more resolution than he often has to defy his mark in a race as competitive as this.

Form: 78-3165

Bowenspark^v1²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-13| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: H D Daly| OR: 122

11/2

Unreliable sort but he recorded a creditable third of 9 to Kamsinas in handicap hurdle at Aintree (20f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Not the easiest of rides and visor is now reached for.

Form: 4/1F2P-3

Fine Casting²⁰³

Age: 8| Weight: 10-10| J: Beau Morgan⁽⁵⁾| T: B Pauling| OR: 119| CD

8/1

A fairly useful C&D scorer who ran to a similar level when placed on 4 of 5 starts over fences last season. Off since running poorly at Uttoxeter in May but handily weighted and not ruled out for a yard among the winners.

Form: 232P2-6

Knight Of Allen³⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 10-10| J: David Noonan| T: Mrs J Williams| OR: 120

14/1

Lightly-raced 2m hurdles winner who resumed with a solid third of 10 in novice at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) 36 days ago. May still do better now handicapping. Possibilities.

Form: C21-3

Lively Citizen²¹¹

Age: 9| Weight: 10-10| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: D J Jeffreys| OR: 119

100/1

A fairly useful chase/hurdles scorer who signed off for last term with a solid sixth of 11 in 2m handicap hurdle at Perth. No forlorn hope on his reappearance.

Form: F27146-

Park Annonciade^t²¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-7| J: Ben Bromley⁽⁵⁾| T: S R B Crawford| OR: 116| CD

22/1

Useful Irish hurdler who took this event 12 months ago. Sent chasing this term and still in touch when fell 5 out in 2m handicap chase at Ayr 21 days ago. Must enter calculations back in this sphere now.

Form: 1465-PF

Lavida Adiva²⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 10-6| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Ruth Jefferson| OR: 115

14/1

Consistent sort who landed 2m Catterick novice last December. Not disgraced on his return when sixth to Kamsinas in handicap at Aintree (20f) 27 days ago. In the mix with few miles still on the clock.

Form: 21332-6

Forecasts

Josh The Boss (3/1), Bowenspark (11/2), Steel Ally (6/1), Beat The Bat (7/1), Fine Casting (8/1), Punta Del Este (9/1), Kamsinas (10/1), Knight Of Allen (14/1), Lavida Adiva (14/1), Anyharminasking (14/1), Park Annonciade (22/1), N'Golo (28/1), Dans Le Vent (40/1), Ballygeary (50/1), Lively Citizen (100/1)

This is wide open but Harry Fry's lightly-raced BEAT THE BAT appeals as an improver now going into handicap company for the first time so edges the vote. Dan Skelton's Punta del Este made an encouraging return at Carlisle and could emerge as the main threat, although plenty of others make appeal, notably Josh The Boss, Fine Casting, Steel Ally, Kamsinas and last year's victor Park Annonciade.
