Very smart chaser at best and, with cheekpieces applied, got back on track at Ascot final 2 starts last season, third in Swinley Handicap (23.8f, good to soft) in February. Has gone well fresh in the past so he's a leading contender back down in grade.

Still capable of useful form, landing a veterans' handicap at Aintree (25f) on last season's reappearance. Back to the same sort of level when fourth in the Topham at the Grand National meeting there (21.1f, soft) and he can give a good account on his return.

Only chase success at this C&D last summer but has returned to form back over fences on last 3 starts, good second of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (23.6f, good) a month ago. Arrives with fitness on his side and he could be in the mix.

In first-time cheekpieces, took advantage of his reduced mark when scoring at Doncaster (24f) in December and good fifth of 18 at the same C&D next time. However, pulled up last 2 starts so others more persuasive after 6 months off.

Racked up a hat-trick at the end of 2022. Lightly raced since but shaped promisingly both starts this summer, runner-up from 7 lb out of the weights at Uttoxeter (26.1f, good to firm) in July. Races from his proper mark this time around.

Made it back-to-back wins at Uttoxeter (both at 24f) when successful on last season's return and fourth in Midlands Grand National there (34f) in March. Had wind op ahead of reappearance over hurdles and he should be sharper this time around. Shortlisted.

Career best when landing the Midlands Grand National in 2023 and encouraging third at Warwick on last season's return. In the process of running creditably when unseating 2 out in the Eider at Newcastle when last seen, but this trip is on the short side nowadays.

Has found improvement over the larger obstacles, opening his chase account in handicap at Haydock in February. Bounced back from a poor effort when also scoring at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) in March, so he's capable of getting involved if on a going day.

Returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when winning veterans' handicap at Exeter (24.3f, heavy) in February but wasn't able to repeat that effort on 2 subsequent outings, down the field at Carlisle in April. Others preferred after 7 months off.

Better than ever when successful at Sandown (24.2f) in February and soon left behind a lesser run when also winning at Perth (30.6f, soft) in April, though was well positioned in steadily-run race. This is tougher on return from 6 months off.

SHAN BLUE was rejuvenated by the application of cheekpieces when third at Ascot on his final 2 starts last season, beaten only 1½ lengths in the Swinley Handicap, so he can take advantage of this drop back in grade on his return. The main danger could be Regal Blue, who reappears having won 2 of his last 3 starts, while Autonomous Cloud arrives fit from a spin over hurdles.
