You Can't Park There Sir Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 14:20 | Winning time: 5m 6.40s

Geezer Rockstar¹⁸⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Lorcan Murtagh| T: H Fry| OR: 119

15/8

Won 13-runner Taunton bumper on debut in April and much improved at third time of asking over hurdles when winning 13-runner maiden at Ascot in March. Disappointed in a handicap next time but strong claims on form back from six months off.

Form: 1/4P1-0

Kilmore Rock¹⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Nathan Moscrop| T: S Corbett| D

12/1

Placed on 2 of 4 starts in points and backed at prices, he made a winning hurdles debut at Hexham in June. That bare form is ordinary and he unseated next time.

Form: 9P32-1U

King Roly⁴³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen

3/1

Improved with each start in bumpers, off the mark at Perth (16.2f) in August. Followed up on hurdles bow at Worcester 6 weeks ago and likely to build on that but penalty makes things difficult.

Form: 5-411

Balking²⁵¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: C O'Farrell| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer

33/1

Related to a winner over jumps in France and showed ability when fourth of 12 in a bumper at Kelso 8 months ago. Will probably need this first experience of hurdling, though.

Form: 4-

Barlovento²²⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy

9/2

Confirmed debut promise when winning 6-runner bumper (7/4) at Southwell (15.8f, heavy) in March, value for extra. From a good jumping family and looks sure to make his mark over hurdles.

Form: 31-

Blue Plan¹⁶⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Ross Chapman| T: R Menzies

150/1

Brother to bumper winner Lady Bluebird. No show in novice at Kelso on hurdling debut 169 days ago, so hard to make a case for.

Form: 0

Grand Geste⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Peter Kavanagh⁽³⁾| T: J Parkinson & S Smith

200/1

Down the field in 2 bumpers and no promise so far over hurdles.

Form: 70-P0

Joecooker¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: R Menzies

10/1

Shaped with some encouragement in a Punchestown maiden hurdle prior to winning a Wexford bumper. Some aptitude when sixth in novice at Hexham on debut for this yard recently and steps up in trip now.

Form: P/416

Monsieur Le Fuzz¹⁵²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: B S Hughes| T: R Menzies

16/1

€60,000 3-y-o, Saint Des Saints gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Park Annonciade. Dam (c123/h115) hurdle/chase winner who stayed 27f. Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points (May 25).

Form: 62

Red Ned¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Lewis Dobb⁽⁷⁾| T: A M Thomson

125/1

Runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers last season but offered little sent hurdling after 8 months off at Hexham recently. Up in trip.

Form: P8/825-0

Sea God¹⁶⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| BF| C| D

11/2

Successful on his sole outing in points and completed a simple task switched to a bumper at Carlisle in December. Shaped like a stayer switched to hurdling on first run since leaving John McConnell when fourth of 13 at Kelso (20.9f, good) in May and is open to improvement.

Form: 1/1-4

Tees Comp's Clive¹²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Danny McMenamin| T: G Boanas

250/1

Yet to show much and looks up against it again.

Form: 57-0

The Big Breac²³

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Midgley⁽³⁾| T: J Parkinson & S Smith

150/1

Placed in a point but looks more of a long-term prospect based on his low-key hurdling debut at Sedgefield.

Form: P233/9

Tory Hill¹⁸⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Jonathon Bewley| T: G Bewley

100/1

Milan gelding. Dam (b70) unplaced in bumpers. Not much to go on pedigree wise and stable usually take a patient approach.

Form: 222P2-

Non-Runners

Weight: 10-7| Age: 6

Forecasts

Geezer Rockstar (15/8), King Roly (3/1), Barlovento (9/2), Sea God (11/2), Joecooker (10/1), Kilmore Rock (12/1), Monsieur Le Fuzz (16/1), Balking (33/1), Mad Mag (33/1), Tory Hill (100/1), Red Ned (125/1), The Big Breac (150/1), Blue Plan (150/1), Grand Geste (200/1), Tees Comp's Clive (250/1)

BARLOVENTO confirmed his debut promise when off the mark in a bumper at Southwell 7 months ago and is very much bred to take to this discipline, so he's marginally preferred to Geezer Rock, who sets a good standard. Sea God is open to improvement and also worthy of consideration.
