Fairly useful handicapper on Flat, barely stays 2m, won at Yarmouth on stable debut last time. Very likely type for excellent yard on hurdles debut with cheekpieces retained.

Showed a bit more than on debut when sixth of 10 in bumper at Market Rasen in April. Needs another major step forward on this switch to hurdling.

Placed both starts over hurdles to end 2022. Unable to add to tally on the level since then but fitness is assured and he sets the solid if unspectacular standard back in this sphere.

Irish point winner who won all 3 starts in bumpers at Stratford for his leading yard this summer. Inauspicious start to hurdles career there 11 days ago, unseating rider early following a blunder, and this will reveal a lot more.

Four-time winner on the Flat but hasn't shown much spark this year. Fair start over hurdles when fifth at Fontwell but needs to build on that.

Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 12.5f), won at Pontefract and Epsom this year. Readily brushed aside on hurdles debut last month.
|
Timeform
Modest maiden handicapper at best on Flat (stays 7f), little form in 2024 so no appeal now hurdling.
|
Timeform
Half-brother to 3 winners, including smart bumper winner/top-class hurdler The New One. Improved on debut effort despite failing to land the odds in 3-runner bumper at Newton Abbot last month. Goes hurdling now representing yard going great guns.

Forecasts

Charging Thunder (1/1), Ronnies Rules (11/4), The Expensive One (11/2), Piecederesistance (17/2), Tarbaan (18/1), Gordon Grey (22/1), Lord Of The Glance (80/1), Malinheadsearovers (250/1)

Verdict

The switch to James Owen paid immediate dividends for CHARGING THUNDER on the level and sure to be well prepared for this hurdles debut, he can follow up. Ronnies Rules didn't get very far on recent debut in this sphere but he couldn't be in much better hands, while The Expensive One is certainly bred to excel over obstacles.
