Farhh colt who built on his promising debut effort when second of 12 in novice at Bath (8f, soft) 12 days ago, sticking to his task well when headed. This longer trip looks sure to suit on that evidence and big shout with further progress anticipated.

Foaled March 30. New Bay gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 1¼m Berlin Tango, useful 11.6f-1¾m winner Fairbanks. Makes appeal on paper and he commands a market check for clues on debut.

Galiway colt. Very easy to back and he went with no short-term promise when last of 11 in maiden at Sandown (8f, good) on debut 25 days ago. Looks one for the longer term on that evidence.

Australia colt who showed a bit when amidst greenness when fourth of 6 in maiden at this course (9.9f, heavy, 25/1) on debut 18 days ago. Likely to improve but handicaps could well be more his bag in due course.

Verdict

CASTLE GATES confirmed the promise of his debut effort when runner-up in a Bath novice (1m) 12 days ago and, with this increase in trip firmly in his favour on that evidence, he makes plenty of appeal in his bid to go one place better. Ashdown Forest and The Pouncing Lion are a pair of newcomers to note also.
