Getting the hang of thing over fences, taking his form to a new level when scoring at Sedgefield in March. Excuses at Huntingdon later that month so can bounce back if ready to go.
Remains a sketchy jumper over fences but capitalised on some lenient handicapping to enhance his good course record here in 11-runner C&D handicap in May. Well held off revised mark next 2 starts later that month but off since and has been eased 2 lb.
It was a poor race in which he opened his chase account at Plumpton a year ago and he has generally underperformed since. Left Lucy Wadham and had a breathing operation since last seen over 4 months ago.
Has shown improved form since joining his current yard, completing hat-trick at Leicester when last seen in January, his resolution on show yet again in gaining another verdict of a length or less. Capable of even better over fences so big shout if ready to go after 9 months off.
Dual hurdles winner but hasn't looked a natural in this sphere despite being placed on his last 2 starts.
Took advantage of his fall in the weights when recording a third win over fences at Uttoxeter (16f, soft) in July. Never involved in 2 runs on the Flat in August but hinted at still being in form back over jumps last 2 starts.
Last of 5 sole start in bumpers and down the field in varied events over hurdles. Makes chase debut.

Boston Joe (9/4), The Big Man (4/1), Hokelami (5/1), Supposedtobe (6/1), Valirann Gold (6/1), Johnny Mac (17/2), Pittsburg (9/1), Kadex (11/1), Dancing Dani (28/1)
Low-mileage 9-y-o JOHNNY MAC is 3 from 3 over fences since joining his current yard and has won on his comeback before, so gets the vote over Boston Joe, who has a good record here and can also go well fresh. Hokelami looks best of the others.
