Proved a model of consistency during 2022/23 campaign for this yard but he hasn't shown much spark in 2 starts since returning from a 17-month absence in June.

Duly improved when making a winning handicap debut at Huntingdon (19.6f, soft) in January. Disappointing both starts since but there were excuses on both occasions and he's not one to write off just yet.

Some good efforts on the Flat for David O'Meara this year but he didn't show a great deal back in this sphere on debut for new connections at Worcester after 5 months off. Now goes handicapping.

Built on promise of his handicap debut effort when opening his account at Stratford during the spring. Doubled his tally with a narrow success at Worcester (2m, good to soft) on latest start in June and should have a part to play nudged up 3 lb.

Completed a hat-trick last year and took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 13 at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) in June. Below par both subsequent starts, though, and she's probably worth taking on.

Fair Flat winner but recent efforts in that sphere have lacked spark and he hasn't pulled up any trees over hurdles so far.

Runner-up on 2 of his first 3 starts at this course and had a bit in hand when getting off the mark over C&D (a division of this race) on his latest appearance 12 months ago. 4 lb rise no major hardship and will be a threat if fully tuned-up.

Lightly-raced maiden who was in the process of running best race to date when falling at the last (in a share of second at the time) at Southwell in May. Disappointing next time out, though, and he's opposable.

Modest at best on the Flat (stays 1½m) and efforts in this sphere have hardly been inspiring.

Forecasts

Garitsa Bay (15/8), Bitsnbuckles (15/8), Prospect House (8/1), Barenboim (10/1), Saddlers Quest (12/1), Harry Gulliver (12/1), Good Bye (18/1), Lord Warburton (33/1), Tio Mio (150/1)

Verdict

Though BITSNBUCKLES has failed to back up his Huntingdon handicap debut success in two subsequent starts, he will have every chance if able to get back on track following a break, which is a plausible scenario with his yard in such good form. Garitsa Bay is second choice ahead of Prospect House, who struck over C&D in a division of this race when last seen 12 months ago.
