Once-raced gelding. Third of 12 in maiden (5/1) at Southwell (7.1f) on debut, not knocked about. Off 175 days. Should improve with that run under his belt. Big player.

11/2
Fair gelding. Fifth of 7 in handicap (6/1) at Chelmsford City (7f) 7 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Likely to find one or two too good once more, unless the first-time cheekpieces spark improvement.

Fairly useful gelding. Remains a maiden after 8 Flat runs. 11/2, bit below form eighth of 14 in handicap at York (7f, good to firm) 40 days ago, not ideally placed. Leading claims judged on several pieces of form.

Forecasts

Marmaduke Lemon (11/10), Dark Venture (13/8), Kaolinite (11/2), Pinsent (18/1), Genta (33/1), Just Ten High (33/1)

Verdict

MARMADUKE LEMON's latest run at York can be overlooked and he is the one to beat judged on several pieces of form, not least a close call three starts back at Doncaster where he pulled clear of the rest with the winner, who has gone in again since. Assuming that all is well with Dark Venture following a break, he will be a threat having shaped well on his introduction at Southwell during the spring. Pinsent is best of the rest.
