Aubrey Loze Memorial Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:55 | Winning time: 5m 1.86s

Tommie Beau⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 12-0| J: M G Nolan| T: J W Mullins| OR: 140| C

4/1

Really likeable, durable stayer who won over both sets of obstacles at Cartmel in May and coped really well with another quick turnaround when scoring over fences back there on Monday. Same mark here returned to timber and he's a danger to all.

Form: 3P-1121

Tronador²⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-4| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy| OR: 130

18/1

Hasn't had much racing for this yard and was back to best when scoring at Plumpton in May. Never a factor in a staying handicap back on the level but better expected returned to hurdling.

Form: 3P5F-10

Lallygag^p,t⁵⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: Freddie Gingell⁽³⁾| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 127

13/8

Still going as well as any when running out at the third last here in June and well served by drop back in trip coupled with first-time cheekpieces when successful at Worcester last month. Lot to like up 5 lb.

Form: 50-32R1

Way Out⁴²

Age: 7| Weight: 10-11| J: Tom Cannon| T: Anthony Charlton| OR: 123| C

5/2

Three-time winner over hurdles who initially upped his game switched to fences, second in beginners' event at Warwick in May. Last month's hurdles effort suggests he's high-enough in the weights.

Form: 6-2UU20

Hell Red^t⁹²

Age: 7| Weight: 10-5| J: Bryan Carver| T: D Summersby| OR: 117| BF| C| D

14/1

Enjoyed a highly-productive spell in small-field novice events over fences in summer of 2022 before winning yet another match the following April. Pulled up a year ago and off since having left Paul Nicholls.

Form: 43P-312

Clearance⁹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-2| J: Harry Reed| T: M Blake| OR: 114| C

11/2

Smooth-traveller who added to his terrific course record when scoring cosily over 2m in June. Race wasn't run to suit here last week and lot depends on whether he lasts out over this new trip.

Form: 134-113

Forecasts

Lallygag (13/8), Way Out (5/2), Tommie Beau (4/1), Clearance (11/2), Diol Ker (12/1), Hell Red (14/1), Tronador (18/1)

First-time cheekpieces helped LALLYGAG regain the winning thread at Worcester last month and a subsequent 5 lb rise won't prevent a very bold follow-up bid. Tommie Beau is about as hardy as they come and he won't go down without a fight back over hurdles, with Clearance another to consider up in trip.
