Dual novice hurdle winner who has taken very well to chasing, making it 4 from 4 in this sphere when scoring in impressive style at Stratford (17f, good) last month. The one to beat with the potential of even better still to come.
Quickly made up into a better chaser than hurdler last season, winning his first 3 starts over fences. Added to his tally at Bangor (17.4f, good) in May before a good second at Uttoxeter, so he can leave a lesser effort over hurdles last time behind him.
Useful handicap chaser at best but little impact for Gordon Elliott in 2023/24. Hinted at a revival when fifth of 7 at Punchestown (16.2f, good) in June, though well held over hurdles on his latest outing. Back chasing on first start for new yard.
Hurdles winner who remains without a victory over fences in 17 attempts. Has refound some form at a lower level this season, third at Market Rasen (21.4f, good to firm) 5 days ago, but he's a long way out of the weights in this contest.

Forecasts
Matterhorn (4/11), Fringill Dike (11/4), Grey Diamond (18/1), Scottsdale (80/1)
MATTERHORN has progressed with each of his 4 starts over fences so far, maintaining his unbeaten record when cruising clear at Stratford last time, so he holds leading claims with even more still to offer. Fringill Dike is a much better chaser than hurdler, winning 4 of his 7 starts in this sphere, and looks the biggest threat.
