Burlington Rise Open Hunters' Chase

Won a pair of 3m handicaps in the autumn and regained the winning thread when easily landing a hunter at Catterick in March. Unseated in Foxhunters' at Aintree but quickly over that mishap when adding to tally over marathon trip at Cheltenham a month ago. Has to be of interest despite penalty.

Useful chaser who landed a couple of veterans' events in 2022 and shaped as if retaining ability after 18 months off in Catterick hunter in March. Confirmed that promise when successful at Hexham since, albeit it was nowhere near his best form.

Fair hurdler/chaser at best. Lost his way in Ireland but found a weak race to open his account in this sphere at Huntingdon last week. This asks for more.

One-time smart handicapper but has been on the downgrade for some time and there have been no real signs of a revival in 4 starts since returning from a 15-month absence in December. Has left Ben Haslam.

Creditable effort on first start having left Ben Haslam when third at Hexham in September. That was his only run for Simon West and made the frame both starts in points since. Looks up against it.

All 5 wins under Rules have come at Cartmel. Pulled up on 3 of his last 4 starts.

Encouraging signs first 2 starts for this yard following a 19-month absence but form has dipped badly since. This does at least represent a drop in class on hunter debut.

Fairly useful chaser on his day and took a step back in the right direction when runner-up in hunter at Catterick (25tf, soft) in March. Never going in the Aintree Foxhunters' since but back in calmer waters, he finished placed at Kelso 3 weeks ago (in refitted blinkers).

Four-time hurdles winner at an ordinary level in 2022. Third both starts in points ahead of this hunter debut.
