Built on the promise of his previous outing when bagging fourth success for current yard at Kempton (24.5f) at the start of the month, scoring with a bit in hand. Remains on a workable mark so he's not taken lightly.

Scored 3 times over hurdles last summer, producing a dominant display in a Southwell handicap (24.3f) in July. Not disgraced after 9 months off at the same course last time, so he could fare better with that run behind him in reapplied visor.
|
Tricky customer who finally got the job done over hurdles at Market Rasen (20.6f) in November. However, failed to repeat that effort next time, before unable to sustain his effort back from a break at Ludlow (23.8f) a month ago. Others more persuasive.

Back over hurdles on his third start for David Pipe, opened his jumps account in amateurs' handicap at Wincanton (21.4f) in March. Bounced back to the same form when second at this course (25.5f) 11 days ago, so he enters calculations.

Went close on handicap debut at Doncaster (24.4f) in early 2023 but didn't find any progress last season, including over fences. However, stepped forward from his recent run when fourth at Warwick (25f) 18 days ago. Task is now to build on that.
|
Recorded back-to-back wins here (both at 21.7f) last year and has continued in good heart since, running well on his return from a break when second at Ludlow (21.2f) 12 days ago. Could be ready to resume winning ways back at this venue.

Forecasts
Mactavish (6/4), Halifax (3/1), Behind The Curtain (5/1), Lepashe (17/2), Basford (17/2), Charles St (10/1)
MACTAVISH picked up where he left off from the winter when finding only an improving type too strong at Ludlow 12 days ago, so he looks to hold major claims of landing a third course success. He is preferred to Halifax, who can remain competitive after his recent win at Kempton, with Behind The Curtain also in the mix.
