Wootton Bassett colt. Dam, 6f/7f winner, half-sister to useful 7.4f winner Baraniya out of useful 2-y-o 7f winner Balansiya. Betting should prove an informative guide ahead of debut.

Promising sort. 12/1, second of 13 behind City Of Troy in maiden at this C&D (good) on debut in July, the only one to make up any ground from off the pace. Looks sure to improve and high on shortlist.

Promising sort. 13/8, second of 18 in maiden at Cork (8f, good to soft) 28 days ago, quickening clear 2f out and worn down well inside final 1f. Return to 7f will help on that evidence and she's the type to do better again with that in mind.

Forecasts

Galen (5/4), Super Sox (85/40), Kortez Bay (7/2), Balyan (11/1), Polaris Dancer (12/1), Duchess Wannabe (25/1), The Real Screamer (100/1), Prince Of Eyeries (150/1), Never Thought (150/1), Golden Goose (150/1)

Verdict

GALEN shaped with plenty of promise (only one to make up any ground from off the pace) when finishing runner-up to City of Troy in a C&D maiden on debut 10 months ago and, sure to improve, he gets the nod to make a winning return. Kortez Bay is firmly knocking on the door and is a lead threat, along with Super Sox who also promises to do better again.
