Poor ex-Irish hurdler/chaser who came in only sixth of 8 in handicap chase at Tramore (22.8f, heavy) 139 days ago on his final run for Eugene O'Sullivan. Needs to hit the ground running for his new handler.

17/2, ninth of 11 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good) on his belated debut 23 days ago. Goes up in trip with cheekpieces added and this Mountain High gelding needs to take a big step forward.

Notched his fifth success over fences at Wincanton (2½m) in November. Little to shout about in 3 subsequent starts, though, including when returning from a 13-week break at Plumpton last month. Leading form claims if back on song now reverted to hurdles.

Dual bumper winner who has made an encouraging start over hurdles, posting a very good third of 7 in novice at Cheltenham (20.2f, good) 32 days ago. Big player with this longer trip also a likely plus.

Forecasts

Minella Rescue (2/7), Huelgoat (11/4), Carnet De Stage (28/1), Kadarra (100/1), High Joker (125/1)

Verdict

Gary Hanmer's MINELLA RESCUE has started out well over hurdles and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to add to his two bumper successes. Paul Nicholls' Huelgoat rates much the biggest threat on form back in this sphere but does need to shrug off a poor chasing effort at Plumpton last time.
