Bangor-On-Dee Handicap Chase

Off time: 18:15 | Winning time: 4m 15.79s

Shareef Star^b¹¹

Age: 9| Weight: 12-0| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR: 105| CD

33/1

In good form in handicap chases in July 2022, winning twice (including over C&D). Pulled up on return from 19-month absence at Ffos Las in March and fell heavily at the first back over fences there last time, so hard to know exactly how much ability he retains.

Form: 1123/P-F

Limetree Boy^p¹¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-11| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 102

10/3

Winning hurdler is yet to break his duck in this sphere but has made the frame on each of his last 3 outings, most recently when 7½ lengths third of 11 to Boston Joe in handicap chase at Ffos Las (16f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Sound place claims again.

Form: 5/5934-3

Boston Joe^t¹¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-9| J: Harry Cobden| T: Miss R Curtis| OR: 100| D

2/1

Remains a sketchy jumper over fences but capitalised on a some lenient handicapping to enhance his good course record at Ffos Las when winning an 11-runner handicap chase there (16f, good to soft, 9/2) 11 days ago. Should give bold bid attempting to follow up.

Form: 25345-1

Malpas^t²⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Theo Gillard| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 100| D

13/2

Good second over C&D in February. Offered little after a short break over hurdles here last time and is likelier to have more impact returned to the larger obstacles.

Form: 66/3729-

Spirit Of Regulus^p,t²³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-6| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 97| D

8/1

Hasn't really kicked on since making a winning hurdles debut at Sedgefield in October 2022, down the field after a 5-month break at Huntingon last month. More needed sent chasing.

Form: 724/P78-

Abaya Du Mathan^p,t²³

Age: 12| Weight: 11-3| J: R T Dunne| T: G Hanmer| OR: 94| D

11/2

Has done well since joining current connections, not needing to improve on recent efforts to win a 12-runner handicap chase at Warwick (16.2f, good, 18/1) 23 days ago. Player from 3 lb higher mark.

Form: 2P1331-

Lone Soldier^h,t⁶⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 10-9| J: Tristan Durrell⁽³⁾| T: D Skelton| OR: 86

13/2

Free-going sort produced his best effort over hurdles when third of 7 at Wetherby (16f, heavy, 11/4) 60 days ago. Player if able to replicate that performance now chasing.

Form: 6/86633-

Fort Nelson¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Conor Ring| T: S-J Davies| OR: 73

50/1

Little worthwhile form over hurdles, including in handicaps. Easily opposed now chasing.

Form: 044/7-6

Forecasts

Boston Joe (2/1), Limetree Boy (10/3), Abaya Du Mathan (11/2), Fanfan Du Seuil (6/1), Malpas (13/2), Lone Soldier (13/2), Spirit Of Regulus (8/1), Rafferty (25/1), Shareef Star (33/1), Lonimoss Bareliere (50/1), Fort Nelson (50/1)

Concerns about BOSTON JOE's jumping are never far away but he produced a decent round of jumping when scoring at Ffos Las last time and he sets a good standard on that effort. Abaya du Mathan has rejuvenated since joining the Gary Hanmer yard and can go well again, with Limetree Boy fancied to finish in the placings behind the selection once again.
