Modest Flat winner and a similar standard over hurdles without managing to get his head in front. Below form both starts since his third at this course (18.6f) in September, but he faced a tough ask last time and could fare better back on less testing ground.

In first-time cheekpieces and with usual tongue strap left off, left last season's reappearance run behind when staying on to lead close home at Southwell (20.4f) in October. Capable of getting involved if ready to go after 7 months off.

Fair hurdles winner at best and made an encouraging stable/chasing debut when runner-up at Worcester (20f) in September. Not in the same form next 2 starts but, with a visor applied, there have been better signs over hurdles on his last 2 starts. Lurks on a dangerous mark.

Back on track sent handicapping when fifth of 11 at Wetherby (24.1f) in January, but jumped poorly when pulled up there next time. However, he shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when fourth at this C&D on his latest outing, leading briefly before 2 out.

Bumper winner who showed a good attitude when opening her hurdles account in a C&D handicap last summer. Ran well when placed on her 3 subsequent outings, third at Plumpton (20.5f) when last seen in September, so she's respected on her return.

It's been a while since his sole win over hurdles, but after a spell over fences he's been placed on 2 of his last 3 starts back hurdling. Was running on late when 2 lengths third of 11 at Huntingdon (19.6f) 15 days ago, so he's a major player in his current form.

Mainly campaigned as a chaser, but was reverted to hurdling in 2023/24 and left his recent form behind when winning at Carlisle (19.3f) in December. Has run poorly both starts since, though, including at this C&D in February. Cheekpieces back on.

Down the field in a bumper and fared no better in maiden/novice hurdles back in 2022/23. However, after 13 months off, there was a bit more encouragement on her second start over fences when fifth of 7 at this course (17.2f) in March. Hood back on returned to hurdling.

Hasn't offered much in bumpers/over hurdles so far, not finding any improvement for the switch to handicapping when failing to beat a rival at Hereford (16.2f) last month. Cheekpieces now reached for.

Forecasts

Iron Heart (7/4), Pollypockett (7/2), Fox's Socks (11/2), My Portia (15/2), Gms Prince (10/1), Moro Rock (10/1), My Brother Jack (14/1), Begoodtoyourself (16/1), She's A Rocca (16/1), Lunar Ocean (28/1)

Verdict

FOX'S SOCKS has fared better back over hurdles on his last 3 starts, finishing closer than for a while when runner-up at Huntingdon 15 days ago, so he could be ready to take advantage of his current mark. Pollypockett was in good heart when last seen and could be the main danger back at this C&D, ahead of Iron Heart.
