€62,000 3-y-o, Dartmouth gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Unwin Vc and fair hurdler Pay The Pilot. 200/1, well held in Ascot maiden hurdle over this trip on debut 3 weeks ago, looking hard work.

Well held in bumpers (for Lucinda Russell) and Wincanton maiden hurdle. Up in trip.

Half-brother to 4 winners, notably yard's dual Champion Chase hero Altior. Has made a promising start over hurdles in 2 Doncaster events over this trip. This looks a good opening back from 77 days off.

Caught the eye in a muddling-looking novice hurdle at Taunton (19f) over Christmas, finishing with running left. Can do better.

£80,000 buy after winning a point in April 2021. Never looked like justifying support making belated Rules debut in a tongue strap (also had a breathing operation) at Doncaster a month ago. Probably worth another chance.

In need of experience both starts in bumpers. Swerved and unseated rider third on hurdles debut at Ludlow when last seen. Hard to fancy after 11 months off.

€13,000 buy. Dam, placed in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to useful hurdle winner/smart chaser (stayed 25f) Ramillies out of 2½m-2¾m hurdle winner Mrs Wallensky. Unplaced completed starts in Irish points, fell last time (Jan 27).

Fair form when runner-up on second of 2 starts in bumpers. Well held in mares maiden completed start over hurdles (looked hard ride prior to falling last time).

Placed on the second of 2 starts in Irish points in 2022 but well held in a Warwick bumper on Rules debut in November and remote fourth on hurdles bow here at the turn of the year.

Forecasts

Montecam (2/5), Scotch On Da Rocks (10/3), Native Moon (9/1), Valentia (11/1), Miss Maverick (66/1), Culligran (80/1), Fort Lauderdale (80/1), Catch Catchfire (100/1), League Clash (100/1), After Midnight (125/1)

Verdict

A good opportunity for MONTECAM to get off the mark for Nicky Henderson. He's made a good start over hurdles in 2 races at Doncaster and this looks easier returning from a break. Native Moon can do better, while Scotch On Da Rocks, who was well backed when disappointing at Doncaster first time up, is probably worth another chance.
