Veteran who had cheekpieces refitted when posting a creditable third of 4 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (27f) in February. Added to record of non-completions over fences at Chepstow and likely to be seen in a better light returned to timber.

Back in the groove when landing handicap chases at Uttoxeter and Worcester (both over 2½m) in July. Ended 2023 in pretty tame fashion and lower hurdles mark is justified. Market may prove to be informative on reappearance.

Placed twice in maiden hurdles at up to 2½m before Christmas and shaped better than result when failing to stay 3m on Wetherby handicap debut in January. Better effort when third fitted with a tongue tie at Huntingdon and this trip looks about ideal.

Runner-up first 3 starts for current trainer before staying on well to open her hurdles account in handicap at Huntingdon (25f, heavy) last month. Just a fair third under a penalty but that was a falsely-run race. Bold bid is firmly on the cards.

Belatedly off the mark over hurdles on final start for Milton Harris at Sedgefield in October (sold for 3,500 gns). Merely ticked over on the level and never involved back hurdling at Taunton. Up in trip.

Maiden Irish pointer who has upped his game since switched to handicaps over hurdles, battling well to make it back-to-back wins at Catterick (19.3f, soft) in February and went in again at Stratford last month. Up 6 lb but he's clearly fit and in form.

Fairly useful Flat winner for Hugo Palmer who bagged handicap at Salisbury (14.2f, heavy) in October. Low-key start over hurdles but there's clearly scope to do a lot better now handicapping.

The market will be informative with several of these hard to weigh up but before those clues, PIPERS CROSS rates the percentage call following a string of good efforts. This sort of trip could be ideal for Colonel Whizz, while Military Tycoon surely has a bigger performance in him given his Flat ability.
