Losing run stretches back to January 2021 and, not for the first time, he rather snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when collared close home after hanging/idling at Lingfield (2¾m, heavy). Still, that was a stronger race than this and dropping back in trip/refitting of cheekpieces may help.

Unreliable maiden who didn't shape too badly on his chase debut here in January but subsequently ran no sort of a race at at Market Rasen. Opposable.

Four-time winner between the flags but he's 0-18 under Rules after checking out tamely when the chips were down at Chepstow last time. Likely to come up short once more.

Has improved for the switch to chasing, striking at Ffos Las and Plumpton in October. May well have added to his tally had he jumped with greater fluency when second in a 4-runner affair at Doncaster (19f, soft) recently and solid chance off the same mark here.

Just one effort of note under Rules, namely when going close in a Wincanton handicap hudle in December 2022. Not so good in 4 subsequent starts, though, and didn't get very far on recent chase debut at Bangor.

Having failed to get the job done after trading odds on in-running on 4 of his last 6 starts, MISTER MURCHAN certainly isn't one to go overboard about. That said, the race in which he went close last time at Lingfield was stronger than this and, still on an attractive mark up 2 lb, he is marginally preferred to Ideallko, who also arrives here on the back of a recent near-miss. The Scorpion King could be in line for minor place money.
