Expensive purchase from points who showed plenty of promise when placed in maiden/novice hurdles in the autumn. His 2 subsequent handicap efforts have been a little disappointing but he still has time on his side.

Fairly useful bumper winner. Reached the frame in a pair of novice hurdles before the end of 2023 and there's likely bigger performances in him. Considered.

Some promise when fourth on course bumper debut in November. Disappointing at Doncaster 2 months later but it's still early days now switching his attention to hurdles.

Successful on sole outing in points and promise on all starts under Rules, finishing second in 19.5f Doncaster novice and 21.5f Exeter maiden since switching to hurdles. Return to a slightly shorter trip may help if anything. Gets the vote.

Fair form in bumpers and has made the frame all 4 starts since switched to hurdles, finishing fourth of 15 at Ludlow 17 days ago. Back up in trip. Likely to be in the mix again.

Winner of 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers and has finished in the frame on all 4 outings over hurdles this season. Prominent showing on the cards now stepping back up in trip.

£20,000 buy after finishing second in an Irish point in December. Tongue tied for hurdles debut. The betting should help guide to expectations.

Third sole start in Irish points (February 4th). One to note in the betting now hurdling.

Showed a bit when third in a Southwell bumper last month but still a bit of a surprise were he to come out on top now hurdling.

Dual point winner. Didn't achieve much when a well-held fourth of 10 on his 19f Taunton hurdle debut in February but she should improve for the experience.

Improved effort setting out for a new trainer when third of 9 over a slightly longer trip here at the end of January. That gives him something to build on.

Ran to a fairly useful level in bumpers and bright start over hurdles, runner-up in 4-runner Fontwell novice (19f, heavy) latest despite some untidy leaps. Likely has further improvement in him provided his jumping improves.

Runner-up in a big-field bumper at Huntingdon last February but hasn't been able to build on that since, albeit she is entitled to come on for January's first experience of hurdling. Has had wind surgery since (also tongue tied).

El Granjero (9/4), Inoui Machin (5/2), Brook Bay (11/2), Dancing In Brazil (8/1), Gentleman Jacques (17/2), Yalla Habibi (10/1), Badlands Boy (14/1), Kenny's Park (20/1), My Monty (28/1), Move With The Beat (28/1), Of Course You Can (40/1), Doeshefitthebill (150/1), Moor End (200/1), League Clash (200/1)

Verdict

In a maiden with quite an open look to it the vote goes to EL GRANJERO who has finished runner-up in his first 2 hurdles and may benefit from this return to a slightly shorter trip. Inoui Machin and Gentleman Jack are others who have been knocking on the door in similar events, while Dancing In Brazil and Yalla Habibi are a couple who look capable of better.
