Largely progressive over hurdles and improved for switch to chasing, off the mark at second attempt at Doncaster (20.5f) in December. Solid fourth at Cheltenham subsequently (strong form) and very much of interest from same mark back down in grade.

Hurdles winner who shaped promisingly when runner-up on return/chase debut at Carlisle (20f) in November. Disappointed back at that venue the following month but no surprise to see a better showing back from 72 days off.

Fairly useful winner over hurdles and built on an encouraging start in this sphere when getting off the mark at Wetherby in November. Backed it up with a solid third at Doncaster thereafter but found his jumping holding him back subsequently.

Maiden over hurdles but, having won an Irish point before joining Micky Hammond, showed much-improved form to land back-to-back handicap chase contests at around this trip in recent months. Hit with 10 lb rise for latest success but unlikely he's reached his limit just yet.

Successful twice over hurdles in 2021/22 but hasn't managed to find any progress since and offered little on chase debut last time. Has had wind op.

Forecasts

Prairie Wolf (6/5), Cerendipity (10/3), Carrigeen Castle (4/1), Blue Fin (15/2), American Gerry (16/1)

Verdict

Having won impressively on his penultimate start at Doncaster, PRAIRIE WOLF acquitted himself with plenty of credit when fourth in the Timeform Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham 31 days ago, tiring late on having pressed an upwardly-mobile sort from the off. He's well worth another chance given the strength of that race. Carrigeen Castle is progressing at a rate of knots himself and is feared in his hat-trick bid. Blue Fin completes the shortlist.
